This may sound stupid, but I realistically don't want to start out with anything too fast, or too expensive for that matter. I'm 21 and want to start karting this summer...I'll actually be 22 by then. What's a good kart to look for (used) and about how much? I know there's a bunch of classes like Rotax, Shifter etc, just go by the numbers :iceslolan

...nice to see that no one chimed in, wtf. All i'm asking is for a good beginner kart but not one that's too much for kids.

lol i havent been on this site in years but saw this post and decided i'd help out.
I would say start in rotax, many people never grow out of it but at the same time its a great beginner area, you could probably find a somewhat competitive used kart for around 3k or if you wanna go brand new about 6-8k.

a few will upgrade to shifter karts but you really could stay in rotax the entire time and be completly happy with it, it really depends on whether your competitive in competition or not, if you do well in rotax, keep going a few years you could always move up to shifter. on open track days rotax will make you feel good when your able to chase down the shifter karts who are supposed to be faster then you.
