383 stroker+race gasRX383 12-04-2006, 11:17 PM I have a 383 with the following build: SBC with Eagle 4340 crank, Eagle H-Beam 6" rods, Engine Works Pistons .040 over and Rings, Comp cams XE284 hydraulic cam, Comp timing set, Trick Flow heads, Team G intake manifold, Miloden Diamond Stripper windage tray, MSD Pro Billet distributor, MSD 6al ignition and blaster SS coil, Holley 750 double pumper carb, ARP main studs and head bolts Would race fuel, either 110 or 116, be okay with this set-up or is it risky on this motor imparticular? silicon212 12-04-2006, 11:21 PM What is the compression ratio? Rebel Racing 3 12-05-2006, 03:02 PM I have a 388 that we run race gas in, and we have also used the race gas in the tow truck that tows the car to the track, and it has a stock motor in it....We where told that you can run race gas in anything and all that it will do is burn cleaner and run cooler....and smell good jveik 12-05-2006, 04:20 PM yeah i think the basic rule of thumb is to use the lowest possible octane you can if youre seeking the most power. this is because 91 octane is much easier to burn and burns more readily than 116 or whatever racing octane. with the trick flow heads, it all depends on your deck height, chamber size, and also head gasket thickness and piston dish cc's (negative number for domed pistons) if you have a compression ratio of more than 11:1 you probably cant rum pump gas unless your timing curve is set really crappy vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
