93 - Oil Light Problembohh 12-02-2006, 08:20 PM Hi guys, Was wondering if anyone knows what this porblem might be. What would cause the oil light to come on and the valves to start clicking after driving 15-20 miles and then after stopping and turning the car off for 10-20 minutes the problem goes away. (Oil light stays off and clicking goes away) But then if I drive another 15-20 miles it starts clicking again and the oil light comes on. Thanks IH8SPM 12-05-2006, 09:45 AM Oil Pump Going Bad. bohh 12-05-2006, 11:07 AM Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that maybe the issue, but I was doubting myself because it would stop if I let the vehicle rest for 10-20 mins and then I could go another few miles before it acted up again. I was thinking if it was the oil pump it would be happening all the time, even if I let it rest. Is that not the case? IH8SPM 12-06-2006, 06:29 AM It could be a clog in the pick up so it does go away when the oil drops to the pan. KimMG 12-06-2006, 09:23 AM Did you check your oil level? bohh 12-07-2006, 10:34 AM Thanks for the replies guys. I did check the oil level. It was okay. I went and did a complete oil change and changed the filter too. Symptoms went away while driving. But now when it's in idle it clicks. Don't hear it when I'm driving though. IH8SPM 12-07-2006, 10:50 AM I would suggest using a dealer filter and high mileage oil, or something thicker. You may be losing your oil pump or you may have a sticking lifter. Either way you go it will cost so start with the cheapest. nivekrekrap 01-14-2007, 06:57 PM I had the same problem for 3 years intermintly. I was up to using 20-50 oil to keep pressure. I finally figured out that even with the oil level at the indicated High mark the oil pan was over full and the crankshaft would whip the oil into a froth and start pumping air. I reduced the oil level by 1/2 quart! PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
