95 Escort LX 1.9 running bad...Jimmny 11-27-2006, 01:19 PM This may make no sense, but I just replace my catalytic convertor, and I started my car and it seems to be missing. I then changes the plugs and wires (a first for this car) and it still is missing. I have limited car skills, but maybe enough to lead me into some trouble. What else should I look for? Is there a computer in this car, and does it need to be reset? Is the an OBD plug where I can read the codes? Jimmny szigatti 11-27-2006, 10:12 PM Yes there is a computer in this car. I would have a look at the vacuum hoses for any damage. Jimmny 11-28-2006, 07:44 AM Could it be the computer? Is there a way I can run a diagnostic on this myself? How? Jimmny szigatti 11-29-2006, 07:56 PM your computer shouldnt need to be reset if there were no codes before you changed the cat. Are you sure you plugged everything back in and/or in the right spots. If you still wanna check for codes take it to autozone/partsource/nappa and they can do it or so can anyother garage. try some octane booster/ better gas. you could have some water in the tank. wtousand 11-30-2006, 10:00 AM Do you have a couple of plug wires accidentally swapped? Is it a constant miss in one cylinder or 2 cylinders? Or an intermittant chug while driving? Jimmny 12-05-2006, 08:40 PM Upon further delayed review, it appears that my no.1 cylinder is not firing. I have new wires on it, and this is the hardest cylinder to get to, but could it be that my distributor cap could be bad? I'm doing more testing on the wire as we speak. Fuely 01-27-2007, 07:52 PM Ignition coil pack could be bad. This will cause one cylinder to misfire. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
