99 Tahoe - Is it keyless?fatbobt 11-24-2006, 11:47 AM We recently purchased a used '99 Tahoe from the second owner. The sellers provided three regular keys, and they said it did not have a keyless remote when they bought it. This vehicle does have several options, including a factory security system that looks like it's been disconected at the horn. Question 1) How can I tell if it came with a keyless entry system when new? Question 2) If it did, what is the best (cheepest) way to go about replacing/programming a new remote fob? fatbot 777stickman 11-24-2006, 05:54 PM Welcome to the forum. The best way to find out for sure is to give your local Chevy dealer the VIN. They can tell you right away. They can also provide fob's (not the cheapest, but probably the best) and program them for you. As far as the horn disconnected security????...........Steve fatbobt 11-25-2006, 10:09 AM Thanks stickman - the dealer is probably the best route to go. I will admit that I'm tempted when I see them on ebay for less than $50. The horn that I mentioned being disconnected is on the driver's side near where the second batery would sit. It looks like someone cut the red wire. That's not a big problem as a security system isn't a necessity where we live. Do you know anything about installing steering sensors on this Tahoe (GM part #26064468)? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
