I recently purchased a relatively new demo vehicle from KIA. When I took delivery the car had about 3 chips on the hood about 2mm in diameter. I complained to the dealer and they offered to repaint the hood.

My question is, will the paint quality of the dealers work be as good as the original factory paint job? I know the factory paint is baked on after it's sprayed, but I doubt the dealer will do the same? What if the finish is not baked on....will it be likely to flake off or rust in the future?

Sorry for taking so long to answer your question but no, aftermarket paint is not as good as factory paint by definition. Aftermarket paint doesn't have the luxury of the electrostatic undercoats or thermoset topcoats.

Yes it will if it was blended in with the fenders and done right.Most autobody places will blend the paint in when doing a paint job.I have seen some bad paint jobs,even one looked like someone took a grinder to it and seen this on a 1955 Chevy which was very noticable

This is factually inaccurate. If you're simply referring to the ability of the paint to have a seamless appearance from a color match and appearance standpoint, blending will certainly help to accomplish that. From an overall quality standpoint, aftermarket paint is inferior in virtually every aspect when compared to factory paint. I'm sure wafrederick is a great guy here but he simply doesn't know the right answer here.

This is factually inaccurate as well. One time I was in the drive-thru at Boricua Burgers and I was getting the Coqui special #2 and they forgot my fries and I DEFINITELY paid for them. This just goes to show that you don't always get what you pay for.

Let me put it this way , take it to maaco for $99 ( if you have them up there ) same day paint carry out , or , take it to a private shop that takes pride , you can see the difference in workmanship and material quality , it may cost hundreds from a private dealer or body shop but it will last. Depending on the size of the dealer and the investments they make in the equipment. Look at some of the vehicles they have repainted. I'm sure they have some on the lot just outside the body shop. You might check with your local bbb as well.
