Your least favorite Chevi engine...Ducaire 11-20-2006, 06:02 PM What is your least fav Chevi engine of all time and why do you not like it? jveik 11-21-2006, 10:19 AM the chevy 305, might as well have been made into a 350, all it needs is the 4 inch bore. probably doesnt make much if any better mileage and is definately a boat anchor unless some serious work is done. '97ventureowner 11-21-2006, 11:09 AM I'm a V8 man:lol: So naturally my choice would be the late '70s 229 cu.in. engines as most of the ones I saw were under powered and problem plagued. Blue Bowtie 11-21-2006, 10:41 PM 1917-19 288 V-8. Poor lubrication, valve train problems, and not much power. twistedtech 11-23-2006, 08:24 PM 2"tixty"7, do I even have explain why? silicon212 11-23-2006, 08:36 PM It's not so much the engine as it is the timing of the engine (timing as in the year) - the hypereutectic alloy 140 2.3 Vega engine. It introduced many features current on today's engines, such as a high-silicon aluminum alloy block with open water jackets, and on the Cosworth engine, EFI. It was, however, truely "bleeding edge", well ahead of its time and Ralph Nader helped to grenade it before it could be sufficiently debugged and updated. vesmcd 11-26-2006, 11:18 PM Early '70's 307 V-8. Little-bitty valves, small bore, long stroke. GreyGoose006 11-28-2006, 01:06 AM I'm a V8 man:lol: So naturally my choice would be the late '70s 229 cu.in. engines as most of the ones I saw were under powered and problem plagued. same. Damn engine has been nothing but problems. the stupidity went on way past the late 70s tho. the same excrable engine persisted far into the 80s, causing lots of trouble along the way. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
