Alright post number one of what should be a fair few. I have recently acquired several copies of 90s Road & Track magazines containing F1 articles. Here is the scan of the first, as printed by a photographer travelling the world photographing the top car of 15 manufacturers, including the F1. Only one page on this, but still work sharing.
Enjoy this for now, the thread will be updated from time to time with fresh scans, and i should re-do this one also as it has a little movement and doesn't have the full sharpness of my previous scans.
Enjoy.

Yeah - it takes him about 3-days per scan. You might ask why, but really I'd suggest you don't interrupt the master at work.

I'll bite. Why does it take the "master" 3 days to do 2 minutes of work? Did I miss something on a different thread?

Actually it's more a matter of 3 things:
1. Time I have available and am willing to spend.
2. Quality of scans, and unfortunately lack there-of of my computer.
3. I like to keep my magazines in the best quality I can, so I am very careful in positioning and maintaining them.
All in all they take some time. Especially that number 1 part.
Anybody have the scan from a few years ago of #038 racing against a 959 and an F40? I think those were the two it was racing against...Patrick Hong did an excellent job on that article.

Do you know the magazine and date? I might be heading to a motoring bookstore with over 200,000 magazines in stock in a couple days, so I'll keep my eye out for it.

Picked up new magazines yesterday, these two articles come from the same issue of Australian Road & Track. I should be recieving another issue of said magazine with McLaren content today or within the next couple of days which will be up soon. [EDIT] Well, I just found out they won't be here today, but in the next couple days they will be.
Magazines have arrived, and here's the first one. Thought I'd share it as a Christmas present. 1990 July issue of Australian Road & Track, first issue of the new title. It was previously published under Chequered Flag/Road & Track.
This issue has a 7 page article on the speculations of what the McLaren supercar of the future will be like, and there's a surprising amount which is right.

Anyone interested in a full size version of the first scan (2100 pixels currently, 4000 pixel pic available) please catch me on MSN, it's too large to upload.
Enjoy.
EDIT: Scans yet to come: CAR June 1994, CAR Sept 1997, Autocar 24 May 1995, F1 in front of M3 advert from Jan 1997, Australian Road & Track Feb 1994, Wheels July 1993, Wheels June 1994, MOTOR July 1993, CAR July 1993 and EVO Nov 1999.

The F1 on the scans has been photographed in Monaco some years ago. The pics can be found on the supercarfrance forum.
If the left side of Page 4 is not readable, please let me know and I'll see if I can produce a better readable scan, or alternatively write down what's missing.
Feb 1994 Australian Road & Track. Rest of article available upon request.
Enjoy.

If you already have it scanned, I'd like the rest of the article. If not, no big deal.
Thanks for the continued contributions my friend. :)

Hello passocorto :)
Excellent, new for me and in french :)
You are on SCF too ? What is your nickname ?
Phil
Hi!
My nickname on SCF is parmesan. I don't have any presonal pictures to share so I'm a rather discreet poster.
So the car is believed to be 048. The scans are of very poor quality I'm afraid, on the magazine the blue is kind of purple, maybe that helps identifying it.
Looking at the steering wheel pic, brings back clear memories of the first time I sat in an F1, that being XP5.
I was delivering some GTR parts to unit 12, McLarens continuation workshop, where they were building the first three F1 GTR,s,That alone was an awsome sight. The sensation of climbing into the central driving seat and surveying the view, from this unique driving position was immense. On exiting XP5 to allow a technician to resume his work, he promptly placed a boiling kettle into the passenger footwell and closed the door, :uhoh: Very strange I thought (he was testing the air con/Demist system)
Although I was only there for a short time, this memory will last with me for a long time. The only thing I regret was not having a camera with me :banghead:

Hi LeMan!
Thanks for the enthusiastic response! I also have a french test of #003 (Ron Dennis's car) but you probably have that one already. If not, let me know!
That's a cool memory of yours. I have to confess I've never seen an F1 in the flesh, exept for what I believe must have been 01R at the 1996 Geneva car show. BTW, what parts were you delivering?

passocorto - thanks for your contributions. Please post the article of #003 just in case it is new to us. :)
As for seeing GTR #01R in Geneva in 1996 - do you recall if this was what the display looked like?
I have always wondered where that photo comes from as I am fairly certain it is the only one I have seen like it and there's little reference to tie it to anything or anywhere. That does seem to be the only time GTR #01R was displayed somewhere besides a race track until the recent Autosport International show this month. Prior to that it had been seen at Silverstone and at Goodwood, but I don't think it's been shown anywhere else.

1996 is eleven years ago, and I don't have any pictures, so my answer will be pretty useless. Anyway, I remember the ceiling above the f1 was quite low, and the car was in a rather dark and small corner, but time could have altered my perception on that one. What I'm 99% sure of is that the car was presented by BMW. On your pic the vertical girder next to the car is there to support a ceiling that would be unusually low for Geneva Palexpo, so that confirms my washed out memory, but more importantly, you can see an M coupé wheel in the background... I can't confirm anything though. Sorry!
I still have a promotional black and white photograph I begged for. It shows 01R seen from above right, and is a real photograph. I'll scan everything as soon as possible (all my old magazines and stuff are in my parent's house attic, so it could take some time before I find everything).

Yes please,
AND......
If you have seen 01R, then you have seen the mother of all GTRs :grinyes:
The parts I delivered to McLaren were the lightweight plastic GTR side and engine cover window kits for a company I was involved with at that time.
To be honest, I'm surprised the above shot didn't have any reaction... I always find it difficult to find reasonable high-res pics of big macs, yet here's a studio wallpaper sized shot...
This one had to go in here, I can't put a fourth Kenwood advertisement in a different thread than the one that already contains three...
 tdc911 - Top Post!! I've read the 2nd set before, but the first set is new to me . I thought it was Paul Stewart's F1, but looking at the steering wheel I realised it wasn't; I looked a bit more and saw the square headlights!! Is this R66MCL, what we believe to be #059?
I should really subscribe to Racing Line, it seem t have a lot of F1 info in it. Bet it's pricey though...... :( and I wonder if they do back-copy's???

As Greg stated, it's the one we believe to be chassis #059. Normally wears the plate 'R66 MCL'. I wouldn't be surprised if it belongs to Mansour Ojjeh or Ron Dennis.
Greg - another couple of comparisons to the former Paul Stewart #023 are that this one in the RL article has the flared front wheel arches and wears the GTR-style 18" OZ wheels instead of the road car wheels.
The silver road car with the flares and normal headlights in this shot, however, is a third car we have yet to determine anything about:

Including a rather strange, reversed image of #001.
