88 justy needs help!Lewis_17 11-19-2006, 09:16 PM I recently purchased an 88 justy, and its got the 1.2 liter engine, and a 5-speed transmission. The guy i bought it from said that it might be running rough because it might need a new fuel filter, so i changed fuel filter, and decided to get spark plugs, plug wires, a rotor, and a distributor cap. No one in town had the wires, so i changed out the cap and rotor, but i'm waiting on putting in the new plugs until i can gap them correctly. The problem is, now it won't stay running unless i keep giving it gas, which is a huge problem with warming it up in the morning, because i have to drive 12 miles to work. What would cause it to run so crappily? somick 11-21-2006, 02:57 PM Rough idling may be caused by vacuum leaks. So check for those. If it is carbureted clean your carburetor. If fuel injected, run some fuel injector cleaner through the system. Check www.ultimatesubaru.org (http://www.ultimatesubaru.org) You will find tons of information for Justy there. Sam Lewis_17 11-26-2006, 02:25 PM after talking with a few of my friends, we determined that it was a vacuum leak. i found a vacuum line that looks like it was cut, so i put a screw in it to plug it, but it still runs crappy. after looking at a vacuum diagram, the line is supposed to go into the idle-up solenoid (see pic), but on the solenoid, i cant see where it would plug into. so what do i do now? http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q153/diablo_stallion3/justyvacuumdiagram.gif somick 11-26-2006, 04:03 PM Lewis, my Subaru is fuel injected, I will not be able to help you much!
