Clutch troubles in 1992 240SXsixoh 11-16-2006, 12:03 AM Hi! I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I drive a Nissan 240SX SE model, 1992. I recently failed inspection for a bunch of things (exaust & calipers). I know a trustworth mechanic to take my car to and so there I go. I knew I needed a new clutch, so I did all three in one big go. Excellent, right? So after I get the car back, I drive it around and then I begin to notice that the clutch was slipping. It didn't slip when I first started to drive the car - only after I had driven it for a while. I tested it out for a few days and the results were the same. I returned it to my mechanic and he replaced the clutch again. Says it was a faulty pressure plate. Two days later, the brand-new clutch is slipping, in the same way. After I drive for a while, the clutch slips. I have since consulted with my mechanic and everything looks good: new master and slave cylinders, the fork assembly is operating fine, the system is bled. If anyone can help me figure this out, I'd greatly apprecite it. Thanks! MetalHeadZaid 11-16-2006, 02:03 AM that's really strange, when i got my new clutch it was super grabby for a few weeks. your pedal probably just needs to be adjusted. if not i would machine the flywheel just to be safe and make sure my mechanic was doing the right job. nissan_240sx 11-16-2006, 02:26 AM Did you break it in properly? no burn outs/7,000rpm driving etc.. You might have glazed the clutch. Hows your flywheel? sixoh 11-16-2006, 07:03 AM Did you break it in properly? no burn outs/7,000rpm driving etc.. You might have glazed the clutch. Hows your flywheel? The slipping happens at low RPMs, I haven't beat on the car, maybe hit 6000 a few times on the highway. The flywheel was resurfaced and checkedfor flatness. If I had glazed the clutch, wouldn't it slip all the time instead of after 20 minutes of driving? SHIFT_KA24DE 11-29-2006, 10:51 AM clutch kit usually comes with disk, pressure plate and the throw-out bearing. The bearing looks insignificant but will allow the pressure plate to move in/out which is necessary. hope your mechanic replaced that as well because it will wear out slideways... 11-29-2006, 05:13 PM try adjusting. also, maybe rear main is leaking? if oil got on the clutch disc then that would cause slipping... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
