1998 Rodeo Eng Knocking at Idlesal111865 11-11-2006, 01:12 AM Ok, I bought this 98 Rodeo 3.2 from a guy at work for $1500. He didn't want to deal with it. It has a bad eng knock at Idle and all rpm's. It has 110,000 miles. When I tore her apart everything looked fine. I went ahead and changed everything. So I changed the water pump, tensioner pulley, tensioner, timing belt, serpentine belt. I started her up and same thing. Knocking sound at Idle and all rpm's. I'm thinking a spun bearing or EGR. Which way should I go???? rodeo02 11-11-2006, 03:32 AM If you have not addressed the bottom end yet, he probably ran it low on oil and you have a cooked #1 bearing. Pull the oil pan and look for shavings. Joel sal111865 12-02-2006, 08:43 PM Well I removed the oil pan and found metal shavings and a spun # 1 rod bearing. What would cause the # 1 bearing to spin? all the other bearings are fine. Low oil from the previous owner??? Looks like I need to get the crank turned down and new bearing. Does anybody know were I can get a 1998 factory shop manual? I already have a haynes manual. trooperbc 12-02-2006, 09:44 PM isuzu factory workshop manuals at www.helminc.com (http://www.helminc.com) sal111865 12-08-2006, 11:41 PM I just got back with the machine shop guys they are saying the engine is shot.
