Burnouts!!beastman 09-12-2002, 08:53 PM How do you stay in one place while burnin out. I see drag racers do it. How do they do it? BlkCamaroSS 09-12-2002, 08:57 PM A linelock will do it. I don't know the logistics involved cause I don't have one yet, but I believe it holds your front brakes until you release them, giving you ample time to burn out...or vice versa. TerminalVelocity 09-12-2002, 10:48 PM Powerbrake it for automatics Drop to low keep brakes on with one foot other hard on the gas instant smoke :D -The Stig- 09-13-2002, 01:52 AM burn outs are sexy... street_racer_00 09-13-2002, 02:13 AM Jeez, come on guys, tires are expensive these days!:D Cbass 09-13-2002, 06:02 AM No, getting the tire shop to mount a set a week is expensive. Any junkyard has tires for next to nothing! Polygon 09-13-2002, 01:06 PM You get a Hemi and mate it to a 727 transmission and then to a dana 4:10 rear gear box. All you have to do after that is mash the gas and you'll be able to burn right through the tires, rims, and roters/drums all without moving. :D Cbass 09-13-2002, 03:43 PM I think a Hemi and 4.10 gears is kind of excessive :D, but hey, whatever floats yer boat. For me, gimme a 427 Cammer and a C6. Gears don't matter much when you have that kind of torque  There are those funky brake control valves, that will shut off the rear brakes for burnouts. I keep thinking that would have to really raise the hydraulic pressure though... Polygon 09-14-2002, 02:54 PM Exsessive, really? You think so? :hehehe: Coal 09-14-2002, 07:01 PM FWDs are super easy for burnouts =) Pull the e-brake, power break to a nice higher RPM (or bring up the RPM with the clutch in for manuals), let go the break (or clutch) and let it fly. I've noticed that they can do bigger ones in reverse too. -The Stig- 09-14-2002, 08:15 PM Originally posted by Coal FWDs are super easy for burnouts =) Pull the e-brake, power break to a nice higher RPM (or bring up the RPM with the clutch in for manuals), let go the break (or clutch) and let it fly. E-brake burnouts... oh boy i've never seen a better way to put flat spots on the rear tires... good going jimbo you put flat spots in your $300 tires.. horrah! ... and any car can do a decent burnout in reverse... its a steeper gear than all the rest. Coal 09-14-2002, 08:32 PM Actually, I barely do burnouts, but I did it a few days ago and planted my back tires behind a big speedbump, curbs would probably be even better. So there, lol -The Stig- 09-15-2002, 03:20 AM Originally posted by Coal Actually, I barely do burnouts, but I did it a few days ago and planted my back tires behind a big speedbump, curbs would probably be even better. So there, lol haha well you showed me!! TerminalVelocity 09-15-2002, 03:39 AM yes...BURN oooooo! ...right  -The Stig- 09-15-2002, 03:57 AM as for my 300th post... i give you... yet another burn out picture.... TerminalVelocity 09-15-2002, 04:00 AM *crys missing his trans am* :bandit: fatninja19 09-15-2002, 01:30 PM what year trans am is that? -The Stig- 09-15-2002, 03:22 PM its either a '78 or '79 model. that car looks like it has a 5.7l or 350ci in it... it doesnt have the Shaker hood... so thats a sign it doesnt have the 6.6l or the 403ci... and it deffinately doesnt have the 455ci which is 7.5l. TerminalVelocity 09-15-2002, 03:25 PM and it dosent have the other 6.6 in it eather (400cid) And the lettering on the side leads me to believe it has the 350 in it, weather its a chevy 350 or pontiac 350 I dont know, I think they used both in those years. -The Stig- 09-15-2002, 03:31 PM ehh i doubt it has a chevy 350 in it, the pontiac 350 and the chevy 350 are two totally seperate motors. They are not parts interchangable, the blocks are actually different degrees. the chevy is a 90 degree V... and i think the pontiac less ... I've no clue what its degree'z are. in my opinion... i wouldnt want the 6.6l... sorry TV i know you liked it. it made great torque, like 350ft-lbs but was weak in horsepower 185... that basically means, when you romp on it you'll fly through the intersection like no other but soon after that you're pretty much done cause you dont have any top end pull. haha but being a torque monster can be fun... like random donuts! -The Stig- 09-15-2002, 03:36 PM a new Firebird! TerminalVelocity 09-15-2002, 03:37 PM the 403 had 185 hp and 395 torque. The 455 had something like 400hp and 460 torque I want the 455 :D But the other 6.6 was a 400 with a munchie 4 speed! YERF! RALLY! -The Stig- 09-15-2002, 03:42 PM Originally posted by TerminalVelocity the 403 had 185 hp and 395 torque. yeah but i drove your car... it didnt have no 395ft-lbs of torque... she pulled just like the Nova did with its old motor and i know it wasnt no 395ft-lbs... more like mid 300s.. she was a tired old girl, she needed an engine rebuild bad... she was the $1000 wonder. TerminalVelocity 09-15-2002, 06:13 PM I didnt think we were talkin about my T/A :p Yes, mine was defentally down a lil, but it still had 5.5 sec 0-60 AFTER that head on :hehe: Well, I wouldnt want a 403 eather, q-jet, few mods, hard to work on, no stroke what-so-ever....400, chevy 350, 455, I would want one of these. In any case, yes....I have no point fatninja19 09-16-2002, 01:00 AM when and in what cars came with the 455?? that motor sounds really really really nice!!! -The Stig- 09-16-2002, 02:02 AM Originally posted by fatninja19 when and in what cars came with the 455?? that motor sounds really really really nice!!! in the 70s Pontiac had the 455 as one of the engine choices. Ever see Smokey and the Bandit. Thats a 1977 455 FireBird. Great movie btw! But if you wanted All out performance from Pontiac, you could order a the V8 - 400 motor with the Ram Air V package, it made 500 BHP straight from the Factory! It was extremely rare, only a few were ever made. Grendel 09-16-2002, 12:13 PM My old boss had a T/A with the 455... all stock... he said it was way fast :D He was going to take me for a ride in it, but he got fired... then i got fired a short while later :p -Grendel vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
