3.2L DOHC Cam Gearsbgreer5050 11-10-2006, 05:53 PM The books I have show how to align the Timing gears for the purpose of installing a belt, but I need help with how to install the gears onto the shafts. Can you help me with this? I need to install the gears onto the camshafts and there is more than one way for the cam gears to go on. Help. Please. rodeo02 11-10-2006, 06:53 PM I dont have a service manual for this, but if the cam drive sprockets have been removed, I believe you will have to: 1) Remove the cam covers 2) Find top dead center for cyl #1 and set the intake/exhaust valves per the manual, then install the cam drive sprocket. 3) Same procedure for the even bank. set #4 (or whichever) to TDC, set the cams, install the sprocket. Basically, once you loose the orientation of the cam sprockets to the crank sprocket, a lot of work is involved! This is why I suggest to everyone to mark the positions of the pullies with a paint marker or the likes BEFORE you remove the belt.
