Car batteries Hydrometer went blank

Hey guys, this morning my car was running fine after my stupid little brother turned on the stereo without the engine on. My car was unstartable then. I checked the battery and the hydrometer was completely black. After got boost with cable adapter the car is running fine but the hydrometer is still black. What is your suggestion?

just take it to any auto parts store and have it tested for free

When you say tested, you meant it probably the battery is no longer holding charge? My car is 2001 and I believe that the battery was came with during manufacture. So chances are it could be out of date since now is 2006?
