what is this and how much of a pain is it to fix?crux 11-08-2006, 11:09 AM i was messing around in some sand yesterday in 4-lo and backed out of a tight spot which caused me to turn my wheels all the way to the left. there was a loud pop followed by much grinding from my front/left wheel well and much :crying: from me. what is this called? 1/2 shaft? c/v axle? i havent pulled the wheel off yet, but what possible causes would make it slip out of place like this, and how much trouble will it be to fix? http://filexoom.com/files/17774/DSC02442.JPG http://filexoom.com/files/17774/DSC02443.JPG thanks! Yep busted cv-shaft and the connecting link for the front swaybar. It may be the pic but sure looks like more stuff is bent as well. I would guess i you did the job less than 400 bucks. If the dealer does it...OUCH! crux 11-08-2006, 12:28 PM thanks. the local o'rileys has the complete c/v assembly for $99, but they have a choice between 2 wheel abs and 4 wheel abs, how do i tell which i have? also is there anything else i should look at that might have been damaged? 2000CAYukon 11-08-2006, 02:13 PM What year is it? //2000CAYukon crux 11-08-2006, 03:13 PM guess that would help, eh? 1996 tahoe 2dr 5.7 2000CAYukon 11-08-2006, 05:04 PM Pretty sure that 1996 was the first year of 4 wheel anti lock for 4x4s. Anyone know for sure? If there is a set of wires going to each front wheel, then you have 4 wheel anti lock. //2000CAYukon vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
