I've got a 1984 300zx turbo (50th annev. ed.)....But wait; theres more; what if I told you I was going to put a ka24de, turbo conversion, do you still think I don't belong??? Currently I don't physically have the ka... But I am buying one, or maybe 2 this weekend off my buddy (local bone yard good friend).... You say ohh well thats just the begining... Well I have a set of 370 cc injectors, apexi safc, a top mount turbo manifold, sard rising rate fuel pressure regualator, apexi boost controller(sorry too many letters associated savcr I believe), 38 mm wastegate, hks ssqv bov, 12x24x3 intercooler, 3" stainless exhaust (unknown customs), many gauges, and the heart of the system turbonetics t3 t4 (550 hp).... The only thing I am purchasing are the apexi safc, the 370cc injectors, and the top mount manifold of to which the fpr, and injectors are here, and I'm waiting on the manifold and safc... Now you ask way get rid of the 3.0 v6, ecu problems... I just discovered the ka24de sitting in a few altimas(yes Iknow grab the ecu from the standard car ; and wiring harness of course)... And there is a 2wd pickup with a ka in it there as well 1+1=1????? lol Well anyway... Any input on where to get things such as an intake or oilpan would be appreciated (not stock as in performance (ie high flow intake(not a cai a manifold) high capacity oil pan...... Also how about timing control??? any ideas (just set timing 3 to 5 degrees retarded??) Also I'm a true nissan datsun fan... No small blocks here... I have a 79 280zx 2+2 turbo conversion 13,000 invested... The 84 is a 50th anneversery (1 of 5000 made...), also had a 86 300 (nonturbo) and an 83 280zx.. Its the 84 so its single over head single turbo (single turbo is a plus but not the 12 valve part(single cam) and the problem is the ecu.... I tried 2 ecus tested all wires and multiple different sensors of all types.. all same result....... So different motor ecu harness everything. I have access to several in the bone yard...(I chew through motors like nobody's business..) Also this is only a temp motor... I plan to spend under 1000 and build a good ka.... (also the guy says 125 for the tranny ecu engine and harness....) After I do that and I get the cars suspension to be good(haven't driven it in 9 months so I imagine it may need some tlc. After I do that and get the interior satisfactory (need to get new seats) I am going to swap in a different motor... Haven't set my mind on anything but I'm tossin' around a rb series... probably just the rb25det.... After I get that I'm going to sell all the ka stuff and some of what I don't need off the rb (intercooler, manifold, turbo, injectors, anything that I'm replacing with better..... ) But till then its just talk... But I dumped 13,000 into a 79 280zx.... Stock nissan motor... lol... (jokes that honda boys around here say when they think they got something) ..... But anyway.. I chucked cause I pulled passed in 2nd (let him pull a full car before I let off the clutch granny through 1st (rolled on throttle shifted at 4))I let it rev to 5 in 3rd gear... At 4000 it felt like a large gain in pull... But it was only my second pass down the road... It was funny the kid was like boy for all you say you got done to it its not that bad... I have a T3 on it right now with a rising rate regulator. Still seems to detonate VERY slightly at 12psi. I also have a 280 turbo and a 300 turbo. Both have been nothing but upgrades. I am having troubles with the 240 though. What can I do without having to dump in a new ecu. Can I upgrade the injectors at al? Thanks midnightangel 04-17-2007, 08:45 PM Oh yeah. New rings, bearings, lifters, rockers, springs, 24x12x3 intercooler, 2 row radiator, Electric fans, MSD boost retard midnightangel 04-17-2007, 08:47 PM If I need to get a new ECU to handle more fuel, then I'll just say the hell with it and get myself a Stand-alone system for $600.00 and it will be totally programable with a comp. slideways... 04-17-2007, 08:52 PM a couple things. your not gonna find a standalone for 600 bucks besides maybe megasquirt. which is not the best, but its ok. second of all, rising rate regulators are crap. get an AF controller. and dont buy a narrow band AF guage. they are worse than useless because they cost money. if they were free they would just be useless. third of all, if your turboing, why do you even think the stock injectors are good enough? get some bigger ones. RC engineering or Deatschwerks can both help you immensely if you need to know how big and what kind to use. I dont have many pics but i need to get some taken so I might get a few more up soon. jtm0711 12-04-2008, 04:22 PM ok so i'm lookin at turboing my 240. its a '93 hatch ka24de. no lsd. alright so i've looked into the sr swaps and it just seems like alot of work since i'm only trying to make 300whp... maybe 350whp tops. ok so if i turbo the ka i was thinking i should upgrade the fuel pump to a walbro 255lph and either 330cc/min or maybe 550cc what do you guys think would be better? also on the turbo i'm thinking a t3/t4 hyrbid but i've also heard alot of people are using the garret t28 from the s-15. so what do you guys think? also what would be a good compressor size and turbine size for this setup? advice would be helpful guys and i know i also gotta throw in a ecu... probably a greddy emange or something like that. and bov and wastegates and intercoolers and such... i've looked at the greddy turbo kit but it seems like i'd be replacing alot of the parts like the injectors to make the power i'm goin for... would it be better to just go with that kit and upgrade or start from scratch. also i know how to weld so i can fabricate some of my own piping like what size intercoolers and stuff would you recommend for that setup? like a 24x12x4 or one thats 24x12x6? my other option would be the sr20 swap most likely a s-14 since i heard the s-14 disapates heat better than the s-13 due to the fins on the engine block and i'd be changing the turbo from the s-15 anyways so there's no reason for me to spend that kinda money on it. my third option was a rb25det... i dont really need the rb26 even though i know it could produce more power easier and stuff but its kinda unneccesary for my goals. i'm wanting a setup for autocrossing and drifting. i'm not so big into drag cus all it shows is who has more power and is quicker at shifting. boosted97sx 02-04-2009, 02:02 PM this is what I have going on so far 1997 240sx 1996 SR20DET Black top PeakBoost topmount manifold PeakBoost 3" stainless downpipe PeakBoost stainless steel 38mm dumptube Garrett GT3076R .63 A/R turbo TiAL 44mm wastegate Greddy Type RS BOV Apex-I SAFC II Walbro 255 Greddy front mount Megan Exhaust Megan Racing coilovers Exedy stage 2 clutch Exedy Flywheel Eagle Rods ASA AR1 18x8 Yokohama Avid W4S 215/40R18 Extreme Dimensions Final Stage Body Kit to come: Apex-I Power FC Greddy Intake Greddy 720cc Injectors Greddy fuel rail Aeromotive fuel press. reg.
