i have a 89 camry i just noticed a couple days ago when i turn left it makes a knocking sound what causes this and how can i fix it?

Sounds like your CV joint is shot. The boot is probably cracked for a long time.
All you need to do is get a reman one and replace it. The part is probably $90 (NAPA) or $50 (on the internet). Labor, depends. You can do it yourself, not too difficult.
