97 s10 No Power to anything

I have a 97 s10 4x4 manual with a 4.3 6 in it. I just recently replaced the engine because the bottom end of my old one went out. I got the engine installed and reconnected all the plugs, wires, grounds, and the battery and nothing works. I looked over all the wires and I see no broken or pinched wires. Theres no power to anything besides the starter, brake solinoid, and alternator. Does anyone know if there is a main fuse or something to that degree that would make nothing work?

Under the battery tray is the main fusible link at the big connection so check that. Doubt these due to starter power but,,, the grounds frame to block and the clutch pedal has the interlock switch on it. Then as luck has it a 97 that has a known bad ignition module (called the ign switch) in the column.

thanks ill check this out. Im pretty sure its not the ignition in the column but ill check again.

I checked all the wires from the battery up to the fuse box and it all looks good. Still no power to the fuse box . Cant even get a single light or bell to work. Im going to go buy a CHILTON manual and find all the hots going to the fuse box, i think that should help.:banghead:

if the ignition switch is bad will this cause you too have no lights or horn when the keys not in it ?

Nope, the ignition switch isn't involved with the lights or horn.
Looks like you're good up to the battery junction block which is mounted in the engine bay on the drivers side front fender. It's a rectangular box about 1"x4" with long plastic nuts holding the cover on.
Your battery grounds are:
G106-Battery harness, R.hand front frame near wheel speed sensor connector.
G107-Lower engine block, below water pump.
G108-Battery harness, R.hand radiator support.

The Battery Junction Box looks like everything is supposed to be positive. It also looks like...if anything is grounded leaving the box, it'll ground everything in the box.
Look for pinched wires around the engine...I pinched one between the motor & trans once and seems like I pinched one between the motor and intake manifold once too....and those were on old cars with few wires compared to todays vehicles.

Thanks man thats most defently the problem. I didnt think they were supposed to be grounded but since they all were i seemed to over look it. Ill check it out tomorrow and let you know. IM guessing i could take each wire off the box and see which ones funked up????

Somehow i grounded a wire to the back of the head on the passenger side. I hooked this wire up to the battery on the alternator and everything came on. Turned the key and it fired rite up. I was wondering if anyone knows were this wire is actually supposed to be hooked up . Looks like its not long enough to reach the starter but is a positive power supply to the battery junction box.

No luck here, maybe in good light you can see if there's a white stripe on either of those wires.
