I am looking to upgrade to a serpentine setup...
it is a 1.6L 91 jetta diesel.With ac.......
I was gonna get rig of the ac and just do
non-ac v-belt style.. with the 90 amp alternator...
Well, looks like the alternator bearing is shot. So....
I had heard that 1.9L used a serp belt around
the alt and waterpump... power steering is a v belt.
So I was figuring on getting the necessary parts
to do this... then I heard about some kind of
crank shaft failure on 1.9L diesels.. and maybe
the serp belt may have had something to do with this....
Anyone shed any light on this for me....
Also... I had heard about a aftermarket conversion...
don't know how true this is.... basically, the idea
is all items are driven by one serp belt........
power steering, alt and water pump..........
Thanks, Micky

Never mind.....
Been a change of plans....
I whacked the AC...
spun down the alt on the existing
bracket. and got an alternator bracket from a
v8mopar..... to use as the swing adjustment
this vehicle is a jetta A2..........:icon16:
