The drivers side power windows on my Grand Am periodically won't work. It won't work for weeks and then work for weeks and then fail again.

Bad electrical connections. Check both the motor and the switch. This may also indicate that the motor for the window is about to die so you may want to find a used one to have on hand for a replacement.
