I am looking for some information about a Bug Deflector which does not shake the drivers side mirror. I have a 2006 sliverado and tryed the AVS Bug DeflectorII and mirror shakes. What about the OEM from GM anyone have that one on a 2005 or a 2006 with the new hood style. Any information about one that will not make my mirror shake would be apprecated.

Thanks in advance:banghead:

I think maybe your mirror is loose. I do not see how a bug deflector on the hood could shake your mirror. But at any rate. Lund makes some of the better bug deflectors. I put that on a 2003, works and looked great.

I know there was an issue with bug deflectors causing a noise from the windwhield. I thought it was from the antenna but my buddy went and had his windshield replaced and they were aware of the problem with the silverados doing this and he fixed it when he put in the new windshield, Shortly after that I got a new windshield and he fixed mine as well.

Bug deflectors scratch the hell out of hoods. I don't really see them to be that useful either, imo.

The first one I bought for my 2000. It was a GTO bug deflector.. wore the pain down to the primer. Then the damn thing snapped off on the hwy..
That was when I went to LUND. It sits away from the hood so that it is not touching it. I think it looks better too.

Hey thanks for the input but I have had mirror replaced and with bug deflector (shake) with out (no shake).
Is there any other good way to protect the hood with out damaging paint and without a bra.
P.S. just dont like them

GM advertises that theres will not make the mirror shake but I talked to the dealer and he won't guarantee it.

The factory bugshield causes the mirror to shake also. I think it's a design flaw in the mirror, because the passenger side doesn't have this issue. My neighbor has an 03 Tahoe with a bug shield and his shakes also. GM states that you will not have windshield noise with a factory bugshield. When I got my bugshield, there were no instruction in the box, so I installed it the best I could figure out. What I didn't realize was that the roll of double sided 3M tape that came with it, runs from the top of the windshield to the bottom on the sides, holding the moldng in place. The dealer didn't know about the tape either as I took it in and they used black RTV to hold down the molding. They did only the top half and I still had the flutter sound. I installed the tape, no noise now. I would like to figure something out with the mirror, but haven't yet.
