Hello Together!

This is my current project, Aoshima´s Vertex Ridge S15. I haven´t big plans with this one, only modify the bonnet, scratchbuilt a small wing on the boot and change the wheels from Volk TE37 to Kränze LXZ. It will be low and painted white pearl with a touch purple (I hope:lol:)

I do a break on that build, because I spotted that Aoshima release the 2006 version, which I have ordered. Now I wait till it arrives bc I´m think I made the engine like in the 2006 version. I need to check the differences between the kits and I´ll build 2006 & 2004 version at the same time, one with engine- one with blue neon light:iceslolan

But now back to my quickie, the bonnet vent is done. I cutted a big "H" in the hood, bendet one end up end the other down. 2 small stripes of thin styrene and Tamiya Basic putty- done!

I'll be following this closely as I've got the same kit near the top of my to-do pile. Thanks for the explanation to do the bonnet...wasn't sure how but will def be using your method on my own S15. Nice rims too, just not my taste as I prefer the TE37's. Keep us updated :)

nice work here its coming along nicely, would you recommend this s15(Aoshima) over the tamiya ones, I need a s15 to add to my collection as i have none yet :( ....

Also bout the TE-37's you aint thinkin of seling them are you??leme no!

This is my first S15, so I can´t really say which make is better, I like this kit so far and I can recommend it. And it has the wide body. It´s nearly similar to the red HKS D1 one. What I don´t like, is that you could have the option to do the clear chrome rear lights... There is the chrome part, but not the clear cover part:screwy:.
The only "problems" I have so far, is that the bonnet is bendet and the wheel cases are too small to have a smooth working steering on front tyres.

The TE37 I will use for a Skyline or Supra, so, sorry I never sell rims:grinno:

I also added some styrene to the inner side of the wheel arches to reach a more realistic look and that you only can see the front tyre through the fender vent at the tyre and not from the door.

This should be drift car and for such car is steering important for higher drift- angle. So I cutted and rebuild the parts of inner fenders at front because I want to keep the car low and the bigger rims.

Looks fantastic so far. Great work and modifying to the chassis. A very realistic undercarriage too....nice! Can't wait for more.

i think its sprayed with a black then a grey which is sanded or some colours...just my thought

:grinno: It´s grey first, then I spray with a very low pressure a thick flat black, then with high pressure clean thinner.
Then with a brush some of my dirty thinner (from the bottle where I clean my brushes after using dark and metallic colours), a little bit of wet sanding, again only thinner with airbrush.

At last I brush some black "shadows" with a paint like water based which drys waterproof http://www.spc.org.uk/forum/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif I don´t know how I call it in English, but the paints are for airbrushing on paper.

the suspension is done, the first time I have added some brake lines... I´m very happy, all 4 tires are turning very well, steering works very good :icon16:

The rims are painted with Tamy smoke, only the "Kränze" decals to the center I have to add.

On the boot I had to fill some molded dents :rolleyes:

Muffler update, selfmade from 8 pieces aluminium tube, a wire and a metal stripe.

The tubing parts are holdet together with super glue, polished to chrome look and weathered with Tam. smoke and Tam. clear orange, thinner and fire :evillol:
Bendet a stripe around the muffler and soldered together also the wire to the stripe.

I absolutly love those rims!! there insane and suit this ride really well, itscoming along real nice keep it up, im doing a scratchbuild vertex bodykit atm for a fujimi car, i might start a thread on it sometime!...Pity the rims are discontinued on HLJ :(

Well, some sh** happens to Risko, too :shakehead:banghead::shakehead
I can´t remember when, but it´s not the first time I have this problem.

I painted the body and the bonnet with the same stuff to the same time... Good news, the body is nearly perfect. The bad news, the bonnet got eaten from the paint and looks now like the skin from elephant :disappoin

Luckily I have the KaiOffice kit, which has 2 bonnets inside :icon16: , I have to sleep and think about if I do the vent again...

Do you have an idea why this happend? I mean why only the bonnet???

Well, the good news I have to take back:crying:
To the body happend something bad, too. After painting, decaling and clearcoting a little bit of wet sanding and the paint was damaged...

Brake fluid, sanding, repainting... luckyly a friend has a new decal sheet for me. Please wish me luck, if I ruin this one, too, this project.... :eek7:

well done so far :thumbsup: , nice weathering at the chassis. It is a little bit strage, what happened to the hood. However, you should check the fit of the rear wheel. It doesn´t seem to sit in the middle of the wheel well

:shakehead I think the completed chassis is too far at the front, but when I look on the front tyres, they looking better in place. The rear axle is correct, too.

Aoshima uses the older undercarriage for this widebody, too. Look how the mounts are... I sanded 1,5mm from these 3 tubes and connectors to get the chassis more back. 1,5mm away- 0,5mm sucess:disappoin I think to add some tubes to the front, but I don´t like to have any more headaches on this build.

The Silvia becomes my personal trouble record holder :icon16: , I had many troubles with the new bonnet, but now it´s completed. The body wears new paint, needs new decals and clear cote.

I mixed the paint from Testor´s white primer, a little bit of Alfa Romeo automotive pearl paint (sorry, no code- it´s the blue/silver to gold one) and some of Flagship Pigment Powder purple.:smokin:

that is a really nice color, I'm sure the clearcoat will bring out the pearl color you mixed it. good restoration work after the paint damage :)

looks sweet, can u push the wheels out a lil more?? to make em more flush to the fenders

The Silvia wears now glases on her eyes, just like me! :lol:
There was an area on the bumper which had be done black, too. From the glas to the lights... 2 mm along the light. This I made with black foil from 3M, no more painting on this body :lol:
The fender indicators are also done, with Tamiya clear orange and smoke on BMF sorrounded with some black.
I tried to catch some day light to show the taillights, not easy to find daylight this time :lol:
The interor is painted, some details are missing- but this will be the colour scheme. Flat back the floor, semigloss black (old Testor´s blacks), and semigloss red (old Revell paint).

I tinted the glases from front to rear darker, but it was very dark, so I had to cut out the driver´s window.
