What is the correct procedure to replace the rear axle bearings in a '97 S-10 Blazer?

Thanks, Jim

You have to open the rear differential remove the clips and slide the axle out. If you are going to take it apart it is a good idea to do both sides. Bearings and seals. How do you know the bearing is bad? If it leaked diff fluid into the brake drum you will have to replace the pads as well. This happened to my 91 blazer.

If the axel bearing is bad there is a good chance the axel is bad or worn to.
They may make a axel saver bearing for it if the axel is rough.
Check your auto parts place if they are needed.
