Autolamps on Explorer 2002

Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of the autolamps so they will come on sooner? Currently I feel it has to be far too dark before they activate. I've read that earlier models of the Explorer may have had an adjustment slider, but I have not found anything like that for my 2002 model.

the only way is to cover the sunload sensor - I like a piece of black tape - that way they are on all the time when the vehicle is running as long as you are in auto lamp setting

At one time I read someone's article on what they found when the opened the autolamp module in their Ford. This was a few years ago, and was probably on a vehicle older than your 2002, but on that model there was a potentiometer (variable resistor) inside the autolamp module that could be trimmed to adjust the lighting threshhold for the autolamps.

Unfortunately, I did a bit of searching and was unable to locate that article.

I think the slider that you refer to is for the duration the autolamps stay on after the key is removed from the ignition key cylinder.
