Why my 98 Jimmy vortec v6 doesn't chime when my key is in the ignition

Been having battery problems i think. Would this have something to do with this?:banghead:

If voltage is low that can happen. New battery or alternator may be needed - most stores test free. When running the gage should show approx 14 volts. Check the battery terminals and pull them out of the rubber at the cable ends by battery - most never do and acid/crap builds up so clean with baking soda and water.
