2001 ,1500 4x4 5.2 (318) with a oil leak

Hi, I noticed when I was under my 2001 1500 ram pick-up, 4x4 with a 5.2 ( 318) that I have a very slow oil leak coming from the pulley at the bottom of the motor at the front of the oil pan. I cleaned the area and ran it for about 50 miles and I'm sure it's from that pulley. This area was dry 2000 miles ago when I last did an oil change. ( the oil hasn't even made it to the ground, just to some of the front end parts )
My question is 1) is this common? 2) does it go south ones it starts leaking fast or could is stay like this for a long time? 3) Is this a big job ( I'm not going to do it) + ( does the motor have to be pulled ?) $$$$$$$$$ ????

Most likely its the oil seal on the crankshaft. If you have some tools and patience not a bad job, but cant remember if it takes a puller to get the damper off or not. Go to the top of the page, download a copy of the service manual for your truck, will give you all you need for the job.
