Hey everybody,
I just bought a 2000 Sienna, 110K, and am hearing a lot about this sludge stuff on the forums. I looked under the oil filler cap and there is some grimy oil residue stuff coating it. What should I do? The car runs fine as far as I can tell. Do I need to take it in? Is there a way to get rid of any deposits in the engine?
Thanks for your help.

You may want to check and see if it is leaking through the valve cover, you may need to replace it. As far as the oil gel problem I would not worry, just follow Toyota's maintenace sugestions. I own a 00 Sienna, I got it new from the dealer in Oct. 1999 and all I have done so far is replace a fuel injector and all the regular maintenance items such as tires, front breakes as it still has the rear original breakes. I change the oil every 5k miles and change the coolant every 30k, and I have changed the power steering fluid once. Mine has 80k so far. A very good van. do not worry, just make sure you follow the maintenance guide.
