coilover spring installationryan99 10-27-2006, 12:12 PM need help, i've got a 97' cavy.i just installed a adjustable coilover springs with stock shocks.but it hasn't drop my cavy.there's something blocking the adjuster in the front.can't get it low enough.i think it's the spring perch.how will i remove this?thanks...just starting to tune my cavy:frown: Lances133 10-27-2006, 01:07 PM Did you get them from eBay? ryan99 10-29-2006, 10:52 AM :frown: yeah,i got them from ebay.i know there are lots of shit there.but i only got to know when i registered here. Lances133 10-29-2006, 01:23 PM I wouldn't bother with them man, they're gonna make your ride so stiff, the problem with them is that they're not made for the specific car's specs, meaning they're just generic springs, not springs for how a Cavalier's suspension should be. Classicrocjunkie 10-29-2006, 10:09 PM ... and your suppose to trim the perches. Not going to come off as a prick, but a little research would have pointed that out to you along with stayin away from those springs. Also putting those on your stock struts was the worst idea ever. They are prolly already blown or will be in time. PsychoJJ 10-29-2006, 11:50 PM ... and your suppose to trim the perches. Not going to come off as a prick, but a little research would have pointed that out to you along with stayin away from those springs. Also putting those on your stock struts was the worst idea ever. They are prolly already blown or will be in time. Since when has comming off like a prick stopped us from passing on info that people need to not screw themselves in the long run? Also I agree the sooner you ditch the evil and go with god the better. As for already blown I give it at least two weeks. Need to have more faith in stock components cody. ryan99 10-30-2006, 06:03 AM sorry guys, i'm not that blessed like you guys here which can get parts that easily.i'm not from US.the only option i had was to buy from ebay. how would you know if you had a blown shocks?i've been running low for a year now with a stock shock and welded springs.(again, availability of parts is not that easy)and my mechanic says it's still ok.i've been trying to browse for websites which can deliver international, but can't find one.so,again.sorry to pissed you guys.i'll post pics of my car soon so you can get a look of it and see what else i can do with it.thanks... ryan99 10-30-2006, 07:00 AM hey guys, which kyb shocks should i buy?is it ok to use them with the coilovers from ebay??? Classicrocjunkie 10-30-2006, 09:44 AM No, KYB product will work with those. The only ones that would possibly hold up are the AGX line. But KYB only warrentys those up to a 1.5" drop, and if you put coil overs on them, they will know. YOur best options are Koni, Tein's, Tokico D-spec, thats pretty much all that will work with coil overs. Lances133 10-30-2006, 12:58 PM the only option i had was to buy from ebay. They have name brand stuff on eBay too you just gotta type it in, type in like "Cavalier kyb" "cavalier tein" "cavalier koni" - are you sure you wanna go with coilovers? A good set up and much more expenisve then lowering springs and you pretty much get the same lowered effect with a better ride. BabyCavyZ 10-30-2006, 05:59 PM what setup do u think would give the best ride in your opinions srj and lances? cause im plannin on doin it sooner or later Classicrocjunkie 10-30-2006, 07:04 PM what setup do u think would give the best ride in your opinions srj and lances? cause im plannin on doin it sooner or later I have ridden in 2 different j-body setups. None of which have been coil overs. Goldline springs on Koni reds. - Extremly hard and a kidney buster, held the road very well. Eibach Prokit and Kyb AGX - My own. Stiff but not as stiff as the goldlines, also holds the road extremly well. Coilover good combos are .... Tein SS straight up.. Ground Control and Koni Rksport Prostreet BabyCavyZ 10-30-2006, 07:13 PM how much did u spend on ur setup? or if u got a hook of sum sort wat would be a good price that i should look for? Lances133 10-30-2006, 08:07 PM I bought my springs and struts off ebay for around $500 for both, springs and struts are much cheaper then any GOOD coilover set, for a good coilover set you're looking at 800+ Classicrocjunkie 10-30-2006, 10:41 PM Eibach Prokit - $235 Kyb AGX struts - $520 = $735 including taxes. I got my AGX's when they first came out, they have now since dropped in price. The prokit will be around the same price however, maybe a tad bit more. Here is what my setup did for my car... Before.. http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/8945/untitled2vh5.png http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/102/gmproducts0132po6.jpg After.. http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/2894/dscf0639bt2.jpg http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6449/dscf0641cb7.jpg Derk_eliso 10-31-2006, 11:33 AM still looks kinda high considering the body kit... how much of a drop did you actually get cody? BabyCavyZ 10-31-2006, 12:30 PM yea i was gonna ask the same. I was looking for about 1.75 inch drop. Lances133 10-31-2006, 05:02 PM The prokit, like i also have, only drops it 1.5 inches Classicrocjunkie 10-31-2006, 06:19 PM My first drop was 1.7 front and 2.3 rear. I was getting shudders in the drive train while excelerating. Over time that drop shot my CV axels. Which is why i went to the prokit. Not as slammed, and its more of a performance mod than a look mod. Optimal lowering is when the control arms are parralel to the ground. Which happens to be in our cars 1.5" of a drop. Eibach states it drops the car 1.4"s. ryan99 10-31-2006, 11:43 PM can i use eibach pro-kit on my stock shocks???? BabyCavyZ 10-31-2006, 11:49 PM yea i know that a drop too big isn't good but i guess that the prokit would be fine for me then thnx!! :) MrR0b0t0 11-01-2006, 04:29 PM can i use eibach pro-kit on my stock shocks???? Nooo. If you feel like blowing out your suspension, then go right ahead, but the stock struts were designed for comfort and for the springs they came with. You have to remember that the cavalier is not a sport compact racer. Its an economy car. Lances133 11-01-2006, 04:34 PM Wellllll, my buddies 95 cavy has been on Dropzone springs on stock struts for a couple years now and he said he hasnt had any problems. MrR0b0t0 11-01-2006, 06:52 PM Haha dont encourage him, im tring to save someones life here. ;D But really, if you feel the need to put them on stocks, then go ahead. BUT! Do not come back crying when it goes out. And just for the records im not telling you to do this or advising it. (Some people can get crazy with a lawyer) ryan99 11-02-2006, 06:20 AM anybody here using tokico hp performance shocks???if you're going to choose, which one would you prefer???kyb or tokico?? 01Cavy 11-02-2006, 08:23 PM still looks kinda high considering the body kit... how much of a drop did you actually get cody? You also have to remember that he has bigger rims on his car in his "after" pics. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
