where are the hatchbacks?

i'll bet they haven't introduced an 07 hatch due to the introduction of the FIT... and the fit sucks.

I am not a huge hatch fan myself. But I agree that the FIT does in fact suck.

where does even HONDA get off putting a barely-over-100 horsepower engine in a 2551lb vehicle (2447 manual) ??

and the fuel economy isn't even significantly more. the automatic fit gets 40 highwy while the civic, which weighs more and has a larger engine only gets 2 mpg less highway?

maybe the draw is the price difference. the fit is cheap, but when we're looking at 20k, an additional 5K isn't a lot when you look at how much more it gets you in the civic.

but i'm done with this soapbox, for now. i've just seen pictures of concept hatchback civics and pictures of what possibly is a current 07 hatchback civic overseas, and i look at the more recent, i guess 2004 hatchback civics, and i wonder why on earth we don't have them right now in 06/07

looking back at the 88-91 lineup, those things are EVERYWHERE. they were so popular... and now that style of vehicle is HOT... but maybe that's why they're dealing with the fit... it'd be hard to get people to buy a civic hatch at 20k when the fit fully loaded is only 15k

oh well.

i'm done talking :) have a good day.

I guess its just not my bag of tea. I think the american/japanese version of the front end looks better.

lol bag of tea....

skotman
11-01-2006, 07:45 PM
mmm, tea. i found some oolong tea in the cabinet at work last night...

anyway, yeah, i've basically lost interest altogether in cars of this class; the small van-shaped cars with hatchbacks that everyone's making now.

i think i'm 100% settled on a civic coupe EX.

Hey I just bought the Civic coupe EX and I love it. I would highly recommend it.

what year? I like mine too. I would rather have a del sol but i still like my civic. I just got a new paint job on it, did it myself.

Anyone looking to sell a del sol?

BlackGT2000

Mine is an 07.

well either way, still good cars. what do the new 07 EX come with for an engine?

00accord44
11-07-2006, 01:00 PM
07 gets the K20 again 197 hp, 140 lb/ft

skotman
11-07-2006, 01:12 PM
the 07 Civic EX has a (direct quote from the website) "140-hp, 1.8-liter, SOHC i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine"

the 07 Civic Si, on the other hand, has the 2.0 with 197hp. i'm not too pleased, because the gas milage drops from the EX's 32-38, to the Si's 23-32 which is terrible.

11-07-2006, 01:16 PM
Dizamn... you said EX. My bad.
I'm the reason accord guys aren't allowed in the Civic section :slap:

01_Celica_GT
11-08-2006, 08:19 AM
that does suck pretty bad. i wonder how much a type R got for gas mileage? about the same HP...

Thats weird that it gets so low considering it has 6-speed tranny too right?

BlackGT2000
11-08-2006, 03:24 PM
I was pretty sure the Type R and the SI were pretty much the same thing.

00accord44
11-08-2006, 03:34 PM
Are we still talking about the Integra Type R and the new Civic Si? Those are totally different engines. B18c5 vs K20(z3 I believe)

Similar power ratings though if thats what you mean.
Or from a gas mileage perspective ITR (http://www.itrsport.com/epa.html)

01_Celica_GT
11-08-2006, 07:31 PM
oh no, i know there different engines i was just curious about the gas mileage. you would think the 06/07 SI would have better gas mileage considering it has i-VTEC...but i dont know, i guess im not honda.

00accord44
11-08-2006, 08:35 PM
The i-VTEC doesn't necessarily help all that much with gas mileage. The VTEC systems aren't all the same really. For example VTEC on my engine (F23) is more for gas mileage with a little attitude on the back. The VTEC on the K20's and F20c are intended to make power by breathing, not sip gas.

I was talking about the new civic type R and the Civic SI. And I thought that Ivtec was pretty good for fuel economy because it factored in the throttle and some other shit to decide what lobes it was on.

MishaA

Type R always was more powerfull than Si

00accord44
11-08-2006, 11:15 PM
The EDM Civic R is more powerful like Misha said. 220hp vs USDM Civic Si 197hp. The i-VTEC is fancier and "smarter" than regular VTEC but still used for different goals on different engines. If I'm not mistaken, all hondas are equipped with i-VTEC now. Its just the next generation of VTEC, which is just another reason my car is outdated :frown:

I don't think that I like the euro civic anyway. They have that straight axel in the rear. All the new civics have Ivtec

Yeah it is nice but that is the only colour for the USA. Thats why i don't like it. But i am British so that doesn't bother me.

BlackGT2000
11-22-2006, 04:48 PM
That civic won't be released in the US anyway. The US civic looks way different than the UK civic.

Yes u are right, i was just saying that is one of the only colours that the USA are going to have. :banghead:

Oh ok, Is it going to be one of the colors available only on the SI?

BrodyP
11-23-2006, 11:04 AM
:thumbsdow for that color. I noticed this week at the dealer the SI has different side mirror as compared to the sedan. I'd rather have the SI mirror set up it looks much more clean.

11-23-2006, 12:12 PM
I am afraid that i only heard about that colour, and apparently there are only a few more and i don't think that black or white are either. But if anyone has any info on clours then it would be interesting.

No black? Strange. They usually stick us with the bland, watered down versions of everything.

The coupe civic has a different side mirror setup than the sedan does. I don't think it even matters if its an SI or not.

Why not keep the same, it is ok. Well i am afraid i don't know any other colours. I will try to find out some more.
