is that not just the 1/12?

if this is from ebay, its more than likely that its a scam, and the scammer doesnt know what he/she/it is selling

I wondered if it was a mistake but it is from a seller with lots of positive feedback for model sales so one would hope that he knows the difference between 1:12 and 1:24.

Not one that I'm willing to provide until I decide if I need this model... :grinno:
After all, it IS sold out and limited to 60pcs. Besides, I wouldn't want you to possibly be taken by a scam! :grinyes:

I wish that there was something in the pictures to provide hints as to the scale...

Presumably you know that from... what exactly? The invisible ruler in the photo? As I said before there is nothing in those photographs that indicates the scale. Not trying to nasty or anything but so far there's nothing to indicate that there is no version of this model in 1/24 scale. Could be a mistake in his auction or could be a model that we just didn't know about before.
Whatever, I'm done with this discussion.

There might not be anything to compare with in the photos... or is there?

Take this shot of the 1/12th scale version that Thorst shared with us when it was introduced:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/th_LM03.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/LM03.jpg)

Drag it into Photoshop and do a simple "Auto Levels" adjustment which gives you this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/th_LM03_edit.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/LM03_edit.jpg)

Then some cropping and a resize gets you this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/LM03_edit2.jpg

And then a bit more contrast adjustment and some sharpening finally brings you to this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/LM03_edit3.jpg

Which on my monitor looks nearly identical to that:

http://i12.ebayimg.com/02/i/08/b6/aa/02_1.JPG

I'm sure I could produce similar results with this shot as well:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/th_LM05.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/LM05.jpg)

Seems there is a far greater chance of impropriety here than there is that a 1/24th scale version of the LM exists. Bid with caution my friend.

Well thnx 4 ur comments. Anyway, i got the 1/12 and know it like the palm of my hand.
on the ' 1/24 ' picture, take a look at the size of the mettal hinges or dots on the body, specially those ones on the lights. Those silver dots used to simulat the screws, on the fornt lights look exactly the same proportion like the ones of the 1/12 model. If te model was 1/24 the silver dots, or clips, would look a lot bigger on the proportion of a 1/24 scale model.
And the details are to perfect to be for a 1/24 scale. That's my opinion.
Anyway, hopefully this guy will do it someday and i will e one of the first to get it from him as i did withthe 1/12 .
Cheers and peace!!
rgds.
Jose.

I don't know if this is the same guy, I had seen the 1/24 listing, maybe he just updated it. You can tell from the highlights on the front in Pelotons re-work are the same as the pics from the auction. Maybe he has one for sale, but since he doesn't know how to decscribe it properly is a bit fishy.

There is no 1/24 released, it is in 1/12 and has been sold out already.

The photo is for your comparison:

The model is 60 pcs worldwide (not for Japan only but the whole world)

His photos are come from http://www.romu-romu.com

Not sure about the sold out part - I just happened to be with a Japanese client yesterday and was showing her the romu-romu site. When she saw the pictures of this model she asked if it was a real car or a model being shown! She was also a bit shocked at the price which works out to just over US$1620. There was no indication in her reading of the page that it was no longer available to order so perhaps they still have 1 or 2.

Both myself and SLK99 has VERY good connection with the maker of the model and trust us, it's sold out! A few examples may of course surface from time to time! But bottom line is sold out and no more produced!

It's not a model... It's a limited edition closed-door scale replica designed for collectors. :grinyes:
