HELP...Need to pass Southern Nevada Smog Check

I have a 2000 Mercury Villager Estate mini van which is failing the smog check: "P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction" & "P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction".
I only have 7 days left on a 10 day DMV registration extension. I have had 2 smog checks and both have failed. The smog checks cost me $30.00 each time. I am running out of time, patience, and especially $$$. The DMV :evillol: states: "that I must put atleast $450.00 into repairing these items before they will CONSIDER approval on registering the car."
Can I repair this myself? Where are these sensors located? Is it easy, moderate, or difficult to do? How much time and money am I looking at? Any tricks, etc?
Please assist!

This is what I suggest. Disconnect your battery both terminal. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight. This will clear the codes in the computer. You will need to run the van about 50-100 miles to make sure the stored code is deleted permanently. The speed sensor may have been a malfunction do to a dirty injecter or other sensors that control fuel and air therefore causing a mis in the speed sensor since the car was getting to much/little fuel but moving/not at the set computer speed for that range. The knock sensor triggers anytime there is a bang or erratic idle in your case the speed sensor caused it. Do not worry about the knock sensor it is rare that it will go bad. It only senses vibrations that are not normal so it sees very little use. The speed sensor is an option replace or not its up to you but I will clear the codes first. Also request page 6.14 and page 6.15 from the user who is making scans of the manual both of your problem are on those two pages. You can buy the parts from autozone or a big retailer so you can return them when you pass. You are allowed to due your own repairs as long as you provide receits make copys in case they keep them.

Well your very welcome. I guess you can stay on the internet as long as you want now so as long as your saving money. Please let the others know what worked for you so it can be saved for others to find during their searches. Post all details and keywords if you know them.
