exhaust leakWilabong 10-20-2006, 05:56 PM So i jsut had my rodeo in at the shop getting new pads and rotors, they call me and say that my exhaust has a leak in the Y pipe and it would not pass inspection which is due in december. They wanted to charge me $370 for the new pipes and to instal them. Im wondering if anyone knows how to patch it, or a quick fix, so that it can at least pass inspection. If anyone can help that would be great Cat Fuzz 10-20-2006, 10:48 PM First, take it to another shop for a second opinion. It's quite a racket these inspection states have going for the repair shops. Nice little incentive for them to find piddly crap wrong with your car and rape your wallet. Why the heck are they looking around at the exhaust when they are doing brake? Trying to find more work to do. Sounds like your getting ripped off. Gawd, I hate socialist-leaning, nanny states. marcre 10-20-2006, 11:16 PM when I lived in NY state I passed the inspection with a bad "Y" pipe. Mine was bad, real loud. I'm not sure what state you are in, but I'd take it to get inspected and see what they say after the inspection. I'll agree, these state inspections are a joke. They will always find a problem. Wilabong 10-21-2006, 09:46 AM Yea I def was not jsut going to pay the shop on the spot like alot of people prob do and I figured that I could get some help in this forum. I live in PA so you have to get your car inspected every year, I plan to use the test to find and exhaust leak in that other thread and see if it realy is there or not. marcre 10-22-2006, 11:43 AM In NY the inspections are every year as well. When I had my mechanic check my exhaust leak, he said the "Y" pipe was rusted through. He also told me an exhaus leak wouldn't cause it to fail the inspection. Not sure of the requirements in PA. trent428 11-08-2006, 06:30 PM shop got me at inspection i paid 400$ get a rust free cali desert part @ allhyundaiisuzuparts.com save big $$$$$ super fast shipping and great service and the parts are the correct ones no pepboy got the wrong part idiot crap vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
