this is a brake question. Evry time I hit the brake the brake light on the dash lights up, and when I hit the gas a little it goes away. The car just started doing this. Every time I hit the brake it does this though. Oh this is probally stupid , but it started happening after I replaced the 02 senser after the catlyst, would this be a problem or what I dont know. I need help
Thanks in advance
Michael

Are your brakes working fine though? Just the light coming on? Try bleeding the master, and the lines.

How many miles are on the motor? You could have seals going bad.

The brake light is for when the fluid is low, IIRC. And where is the smoke coming from? Did you drip any fluid onto any exhaust parts or something that would get hot?

I might be that your ebrake is all the way down but it might be just making contact so the light comes on. I don't know if there is a way to disconnect the the wire from the ebrake lever but if there is a way try doing so to see if the light goes out, if it does then that may just be your problem.

I disconected the e-brake and the light is still coming on. and no I did not spill any fluid that I know of, It looks like oil smoke

Do a compression test, I have a feeling your rings are shot.

ok I will try compression test, and is it hard( I know alot of work) to put new piston and rings in. and is it worth it?

It is not horrably hard if you know your way around the engine. Its up to you if its worth it, How much do you like the car? is the question i ask you.

It can be very tough and an expensive mistake if done by a novice. If you know engines and how they work, the tolerances that they have, and have an understanding of the work you're doing, then it should be no problem. Do you have a Chiltons manual for the car? I'd suggest getting one if you don't.

You should be okay then, just make sure that you check the bearing clearances and what not, make sure everything is torqued to yield and done in the correct order if called for, and the biggest thing, make sure everything is clean, do NOT install dirty parts. Consult your manual for basic guidelines and if you have any questions, make sure you ask someone, at least come ask us because one screw up while rebuiling a block, and the whole engine could be toast. Good luck man.
