I am trying to replace my clutch but the alignment tool that came with the new clutch kit doesnt align to anything. Matches the spline on the clutch disk but not anything on the flywheel side.

as hard as it was to get the tranny out cant image I'll ever get it back in without it lined up right.:banghead:

I have usually had good luck with just lining up the outside edge of the clutch plate with the edge of the pressure plate. It seems to work as good as trying to line up with the tool through the splines of the clutch plate into the pilot bearing. I haven't had the transmission out of the Corolla to see if it works that way on this one.

I agree with ttiiggy. I have aligned many clutch discs by the method ttiiggy describes. Maybe your Corolla trans does not use a pilot bearing or bushing in the crankshaft?

Thanks for the quick response! Correct I dont have a pilot bearing. Tried measuring between the pressure plate "fingers" and the alignment tool but am still obviously off center.. will give this a try tomorrow!!!

ok I know this is a long dead post but my answer to this was to go to lowes and buy 2 100mm bolts to hang the tranny from. this took the weight off so i could line evrything up.
