High Oil Pressure? Or normal?cytehntr05 10-17-2006, 12:38 AM I've got another question. On my 95 GCL 4.0L the oil pressure usually runs at 70psi. the maximum displayed is 80. Sometimes it will run the same oil pressure of 65 or 70 when it idleing and when its running at oporating speed. Other times it will idle at 40psi and run a little bit more at operating speed. Is it normal for it to run so high and to fluxuate? I dont have much experience w/ jeeps and i've never driven a vehicle that that ran such high oil pressure. Bob D. 10-17-2006, 02:33 AM 40 to 60 psi is normal. 70-80 is a bit on the high side. Pressure usually drops as the engine wears, so I would suspect an inaccurate sending unit/gauge. A shop may have a gauge they can temporarily attach and get an accurate reading. Then you can rule out internal problems like blocked oil passages. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
