Tail lights dont work

as soon as i turn on the lights the fuse pops. checked all wires leading from fuse box, no fuse box in trunk, no dash lights? could it be the head light switch or the fuse box in the kick panel it self! im about to give uP!

Are you turning the headlights on or just the parking lights? Do you loose both headlights and parking lights when the fuse blows. What year Camry do you have? One common trouble spot is the wire bundle running next to the left hinge in trunk. Wires get pinched or insulation is worn away till it shorts to the frame.

Head lights work fine, its a 1990. the fuse blows as soon as i turn on the parking/ tail lights. checked those wires and found nothing.

Try to remove all bulbs.
It may be a short in one of the sockets.
If it does not blow the fuse then put bulbs in one at time.

Might also check the wiring harness where it transitions from the body to the deck lid; the portion that follows the hinge gets stressed every time the trunk is opened and is a common fail point. I'd venture to guess you have broken shorted wires within that portion of the bundle. My 91 looked fine from the outside; it wasn't until I unwrapped the bundle that the problem became apparent.

There is a light failure warning module that seems to cause problems. Its in the trunk on the right side behind the liner. Its bright yellow and is approx 3x3 in. Open it up and see if it looks fried. If it does it is usually something external that has shorted and fried the box. Hope the fuse protected it. Search the forum. There's lots of info on this topic. The factory manuals thread at the top of the forum has schematics and other useful info.
