Never thought I'd be building a minivan! But hey, customer's always right, and he wants his worktruck. Fujimi GMC Safari, and I'll be making the decals myself. Fabricating the roof-rack and ladders should be interesting...

Hi John,

cool project, I like it! The ladders from the ROG Unimog Fire Engine look like a perfect fit. PM me, I have some spares that I could send you.

Hey John, would you mind making some resin copies of
the ladders for me for my brother's electric truck?

Interesting subject, should make for a real eyecatching model.

I'd love to, but I have no ability to resin cast :licka:

Interesting project John. Doesnt the guy see enough of his work truck? When I'm not at work I sure don't want to be reminded of it. :-)

Mike.

Quick update... Still can't believe I'm building this.

Sure is a quick easy build though. Typical Tamiya quality. Challenge is gonna be the decals, no doubt.

very fancy! I hope it turns out right ;) I want it at the office, kind of a gimmick for my manager as well (yes I am the customer who wants his work van done, I'm so lame :))

Thanks Tiger!

Not to be picky...but isn't that one very good Fujimi kit?

[Edit: John, you got PM]

Nice job, I can't wait to see the ladders and roof rack. Keep up the progress.

I wouldn't watch if I was him, there'd be no surprise.

Im not sure if you plan on working on the back window area anymore, but it still kinda looks shaky n could prolly be a little more flush with the side n filled. It will prolly give u some problems when u decal it. :2cents: cool project tho!

Ya, I was planning on just sanding it smoother and maybe drawing the panel lines out a bit to make it sit flush...

Van's basically together now, in terms of the basic kit anyway... Added a "wall" behind the front seats covered in felt to block the entire back of the interior, just like the real one... onto the decals and ladders, I guess!

What's up with the lights?
Something looks wierd.

Otherwise, very nice!

They're basically "clearcorners"... the kit doesn't have the same headlights, and my scratch building skills aren't enough up to snuff. Rasmus said that was fine, anyway :p

As long as he doesn't mind!

The van is coming along nicely, I hope the decals go on nicely. Great job so far!

Well yes and no.... Half the decals ran pink... *sigh* ... So I still have to do the decals for the phone number and website on the side.

Also, I just bought a nice big powerful flood light to use for taking pics... I think it's helped?

I think that last picture is pretty good. This is coming along great, I like these real world projects.

Really good representation of the 1:1. If you were looking for the work truck wheels, I'm pretty sure the diecaast express van from Highway 61 has them. I (had) them, but they are lost somewhere in the magical parts drawer, only to be found when not needed:rolleyes: Keep up the awsome work man.

Doh. Thanks anyway. I've never seen that kit, heh.
