WIP: Customer's Worktruck GMC Safaritigeraid 10-15-2006, 05:13 PM Never thought I'd be building a minivan! But hey, customer's always right, and he wants his worktruck. Fujimi GMC Safari, and I'll be making the decals myself. Fabricating the roof-rack and ladders should be interesting... http://www.tigersdenhobbies.com/gallery/Razs%20Safari/raz_safari1.jpg http://www.tigersdenhobbies.com/gallery/Razs%20Safari/raz_safari_wip1.jpg voyageur 10-16-2006, 05:33 PM Hi John, cool project, I like it! The ladders from the ROG Unimog Fire Engine look like a perfect fit. PM me, I have some spares that I could send you. suicidehummer 10-16-2006, 11:08 PM Hey John, would you mind making some resin copies of the ladders for me for my brother's electric truck? quadzero 10-19-2006, 06:22 PM Interesting subject, should make for a real eyecatching model. tigeraid 10-19-2006, 07:03 PM Hey John, would you mind making some resin copies of the ladders for me for my brother's electric truck? I'd love to, but I have no ability to resin cast :licka: mikemechanic 10-19-2006, 08:08 PM Interesting project John. Doesnt the guy see enough of his work truck? When I'm not at work I sure don't want to be reminded of it. :-) Mike. tigeraid 10-24-2006, 07:36 PM Quick update... Still can't believe I'm building this. Sure is a quick easy build though. Typical Tamiya quality. Challenge is gonna be the decals, no doubt. http://www.tigersdenhobbies.com/gallery/Razs%20Safari/raz_safari_wip2.jpg http://www.tigersdenhobbies.com/gallery/Razs%20Safari/raz_safari_wip3.jpg http://www.tigersdenhobbies.com/gallery/Razs%20Safari/raz_safari_wip4.jpg Rasmus 10-25-2006, 02:59 PM very fancy! I hope it turns out right ;) I want it at the office, kind of a gimmick for my manager as well (yes I am the customer who wants his work van done, I'm so lame :)) Thanks Tiger! - R voyageur 10-25-2006, 03:43 PM Not to be picky...but isn't that one very good Fujimi kit? [Edit: John, you got PM] tigeraid 10-25-2006, 07:34 PM Woops! I meant Fujimi, not Tamiya sorry. Raz wtf, snooping in on your work!! :p Plasticmodeler702 10-25-2006, 11:05 PM Nice job, I can't wait to see the ladders and roof rack. Keep up the progress. suicidehummer 10-26-2006, 05:49 PM I wouldn't watch if I was him, there'd be no surprise. WRC_413X 10-27-2006, 06:35 PM Im not sure if you plan on working on the back window area anymore, but it still kinda looks shaky n could prolly be a little more flush with the side n filled. It will prolly give u some problems when u decal it. :2cents: cool project tho! tigeraid 10-27-2006, 06:43 PM Im not sure if you plan on working on the back window area anymore, but it still kinda looks shaky n could prolly be a little more flush with the side n filled. It will prolly give u some problems when u decal it. :2cents: cool project tho! Ya, I was planning on just sanding it smoother and maybe drawing the panel lines out a bit to make it sit flush... tigeraid 11-06-2006, 06:35 PM Van's basically together now, in terms of the basic kit anyway... Added a "wall" behind the front seats covered in felt to block the entire back of the interior, just like the real one... onto the decals and ladders, I guess! http://www.tigersdenhobbies.com/gallery/Razs%20Safari/raz_safari_wip5.jpg Rasmus 11-06-2006, 07:05 PM Awesome! :ylsuper: suicidehummer 11-06-2006, 07:49 PM What's up with the lights? Something looks wierd. Otherwise, very nice! tigeraid 11-06-2006, 09:43 PM They're basically "clearcorners"... the kit doesn't have the same headlights, and my scratch building skills aren't enough up to snuff. Rasmus said that was fine, anyway :p suicidehummer 11-06-2006, 09:51 PM As long as he doesn't mind! Plasticmodeler702 11-06-2006, 10:34 PM The van is coming along nicely, I hope the decals go on nicely. Great job so far! tigeraid 11-19-2006, 06:02 PM Well yes and no.... Half the decals ran pink... *sigh* ... So I still have to do the decals for the phone number and website on the side. Also, I just bought a nice big powerful flood light to use for taking pics... I think it's helped? http://www.tigersdenhobbies.com/gallery/Razs%20Safari/raz_safari_wip6.jpg quadzero 11-20-2006, 03:52 PM I think that last picture is pretty good. This is coming along great, I like these real world projects. blubaja 11-20-2006, 11:04 PM Really good representation of the 1:1. If you were looking for the work truck wheels, I'm pretty sure the diecaast express van from Highway 61 has them. I (had) them, but they are lost somewhere in the magical parts drawer, only to be found when not needed:rolleyes: Keep up the awsome work man. tigeraid 11-20-2006, 11:40 PM Really good representation of the 1:1. I've never seen that kit, heh. brady_381need72c10 11-21-2006, 10:44 AM i love it!:sunglasse blkdodge 06-18-2007, 06:59 PM how did you make the lettering? tigeraid 06-18-2007, 07:39 PM how did you make the lettering? homemade decals, sir.
