daughters 96 grand cherokee with 5.2l v8 has a bad coolant sensor message. went to jeep a bought a new one p/n 1-33004281. this sensor is made for a much larger threaded port than the one that i removed and has a much different electrical connector. so what is the correct p/n and where can i find it. picture of three coolant sensor attached largest is the 33004281 the one in the center is the one removed from the v8 the one on the right belongs to the 4.0 il6. the v8 sensor removed from the front of the engine block adjacent to the top radiator hose. (can not post pic, can email if contacted)

Take a close look at it there is one for the dash gauge and one for the pcm.
Both should be near thermostat housing.
The one for pcm I show in the thermostat housing.
You can unplug one and see if the dash gauge quits.
If so you need to find the other one.
What was the code no you got for it.
Is the engine running at proper tempt. 195 degree?
And remember codes do not say replace sensors they say check it out.
It could be a wiring or pcm problem to.

thanks MT. my haynes shop manual also shows two sensors as you suggest. This vehicle only has one that i can see. next closest sensor is the air charge sensor in the front of the intake manifold, no other wires from the harness for a second coolant sensor. must be a transition year

I take it that the info center is saying that the coolant sensor is bad?If so ,that is the coolant level sesor in the reservoir, not the sensor in the intake manifold. If not, then never mind.

There should be two someplace.
Code no would help.
Or as said if you got message from message center may be coolant level sensor.
Unplug the one you can see and see if it is gauge or pcm coolant sensor.
Here is some good repair inf on it.

The 93/94 models had 2 sensors, 95 and later 5.2L only had 1 sensor (next to the thermostat housing) if you look closely at the heater hose on the passengerside there will be a bolt next to it, this bolt plugs off the hole where the other sensor went.

This is a very common failure for JGC's. Go to post # 16 on this thread. It' worth the time to read it to fully understand the problem....
