A week ago i noticed a wierd sound coming from my civic, at first when i was in it, it sounded like it was coming from under the car, but now it sounds like its coming from the area around the alternator. The sound is kind of like if a nickel sized piece of sheetmetal was being shaken in a tin can.

I took it off and when i spun it the first time it made a crakling noise, then it didnt do it anymore at all, so went and had it tested and it passed all perfectly. We put it back on and it was ok.

Now tonight when i was pulling in i was competely stopped and just holding the clutch down and my car make a loud clickling noise and stalled and my batt light came on. And when i restarted it it was making the same noise just now its louder and more obnoxious.

I wanna say its the alternator, but the sound also sounds like its coming from straight between that and the intake manifold, i cant pinpoint it exactly, any help would be great!

Sounds can be deciving when your just sticking your ear around. They resonate through the whole engine so pinpointing the source usually involves a stethoscope. Did the car make the sound when you had the alternator off and is your charge light still on? If either of the two, replace the alternator.
