I have a set of Michelin XCX/APT with 54K miles on them that will shortly need replacement. They have been great...but they are a bit bouncy and make a little road noise. The salesman at the tire store talked about the XC-LT4 as being a better tire of road noise and that is was more like a passenger car tire for a truck. I can't find any info about side wall construction or anything. I use the truck to pull a horse trailer about 15 weekends a year. Anyone have any input as to which would be a better tire?
Thanks,
Sonny01

Or...if anyone has Michelin XC-LT4 tires I would love to hear about if there is much road noise and how they are wearing.

i'm on my second set of XCX-APT's 31x10.50x15. first set i got over 80,000 miles on them and sold them for 150 bucks. if you compare the tread depth alone the XCx-APT's win hands down.
i cant believe you didnt get better mileage from the set you have on you must not be keeping them balanced and rotated (and you get that at sears for 60 bucks for as long as you have the tires).
i have never had tire noise with either set, your best bet is get another set of XCX-APT's keep them balanced and rotated and get 80K out of them

I always kept them balanced and rotated...the problem I have is when they get about 1/2 worn they tend to hydroplane when I have no load in/on the truck. I sold the truck and need tires for my new one (2005) and have looked at these tires and the tread design is different. I have a friend that bought a set and they aren't noisy or bouncy...so I'm sticking with them :-)
