I had a question about which car would win straight off the line??

A 1996 Pontiac Trans Am or a 1996 M3??

Does anyone know what the true specs are for a stock 96 m3??

Thanks!

Is the TransAm M6 or A4? If its an M6 it will get the 1/4 mile between 14.0-14.4 depends on the driver. A4's will get times between 14.4-14.6 depends on the first 60ft. E36 M3's on the other hand i guess they get times between 14.4-14.8 depends on the driver ofcourse. I have seen few got 14.1 but they have few mods. Anyways the trap speed for the TA is a bit higher than the 96M3's. For the T/A 98-101mph and for the M3 97-99. So it will be very close, but the T/A has a better chance at the end if both drivers are good. I guess if the T/A and the M3 raced from a roll the T/A will win easy because it has more TQ and HP. Dont forget the T/A puts down 230-250RWHP against the 210-220RWHP for the M3. The T/A weighs around 3400 and the M3 maybe the same if not 50-70LBS less. So if u just look at those numbers the T/A has the advantage.

Oh one more thing, the specs for the M3 are

240HP at 6000Rpm
236TQ at 3800Rpm

But this what magzines says, but they dyno at 210-220RWHP which means they have higher HP than 240 with a drive train loss of 15% they get around 247-258HP.
