No problems, just wanted to see how many miles you guys are racking up on your cars. Mine is a '97 5 speed and I have 189K on it. I was just wondering how many miles I could expect to get before the engine lets go. I use synthetic oil and it doesn't have the "tic" that you hear on some Cavaliers. I get 30-34 mpg and it seems fine. I just wonder if I should keep taking 800 mile road trips in it.

Thanks

There are a couple thread like this floating around already but oh well, I have a 99 z24 5spd and put on 205,000 before I blew the engine only because I ran out of oil lol. So as long as you keep up the maintence you should be ok for at least another 50K

I have a 97, 2.2, 5 speed with 245,000. Still has original clutch and motor, does not use a drop of oil and still runs excellent. Only a few minor things have went wrong with her, nothin major - knock on wood, lol.

245,000 miles on the factory clutch is VERY hard to believe, especially when the average clutch only lasts about 75,000

as for me, ive got a 98 2.2 with 101,000 on it, the cars a pile of shit but the engine still runs great

I'm amazed myself that its lasted this long  I always thought if the car ever made it to this high mileage, the clutch and motor possibly would need to be replaced, but both are original. I've been very fortunate, she's been a good car :p

99 cav 2.2l ---- 59,355 miles. Still looks brand new body wise, minus undercarrage due to a couple NY winters. But still very little rust under there, and you could eat off my engine. No lie....

1997 Cav 2.2. Blew one engine and one trans. due to constant, daily abuse. It's got around 145,000 miles on it. Now have about 71k on the 3400 under the hood.

1992 2.2 with 124,000 on it, original engine, only thing on it that has been replaced was the AC compressor, and that went out for a second time this last summer (I stoped replacing it, now ill just roll down the damn windows). Doesnt use a drop of oil, and never has, Gas mileage isnt that great, but not to bad, its fairly clean engine for a 92, and as for the shape of the body, lets just say this, I live in Wisconsin, the original owner of the car, lived in Wisconsin. We have some nasty winters, and theres allways salt on the road (well not this yea, been kinda mild) so needless to say, I got rust falling off of every where, but the engine is like new...

97 Z24 auto......149,400KMs, got the car at 138,000 and the engine blew the first night, replacement motor is in that week following and has worked awesome like new since, and its a used motor and runs flawlessly. Body is mint, only a clearcoat chip on hood and front bumper, which i treated by spraying some clear coat on them to stop the chipping.

97 2.2l coupe, 16,510 ORIGINAL miles.

All stock except sound system- car was a radio delete when I got it, no radio, speakers, antenna, anything. Wiring was all there, just had to add the parts! Inherited it from my grandparents, I'm expecting it to last me for a LONG time....

i dunno....
not much problems,
except the stupid tranny,
it slips once in a while,
but yeh the way i run her....
she's a champ!
doesnt matter to me,
either the engine or tranny will go
sooner or later.
all that means to me is
new tranny and motor!

96000 on a 2001 2.2L 4 speed auto. Have only replaced the V/C gasket so far, but now the R/F suspension is making some weird noises...
