93 civic. I was just jacked!jiloasis74 10-05-2006, 10:03 PM I got my first civic about a month ago. It came with a stock stereo. So I put in a $125 kenwood. 3wks later (this past monday) I go to start my car to go to work only to find out that some muther fucking asshole (im still upset) slimmed jimmed my passanger door, distroyed my dash trim to steal my stereo. QUESTION I wanna know whats the best way to install a new stereo but, bolt it down so it cant be taken out? Also anyone know bout kill switches? Ive been told my type of car is gold for thieves. Just really worried now that I'll come out one day from home or anywhere only to find my car stolen. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPPPPP:frown: thefooshmeister 10-05-2006, 10:16 PM get a cd player with a detachable faceplace and just take off the faceplate and lock it in the glovebox or put it under the seat..i live on a college campus and freak out all the time if i hear somethin. on most cd players they have a threaded hole on the back and you could just fab up a bracket that will bolt into the center console. my old hf had it done and it was a pain to get it out but it would definately help deter thieves. maxassassin 10-05-2006, 10:51 PM well i know our fourth gens used to bolt up underneath i nthe center of the deck. but i dont know about newer decks but hes right usually you use a softer bar kinda thing that cushions your deck which you could bolt down behind it so it still coshions but stills adds security. CivicSpoon 10-05-2006, 11:19 PM NEVER put the detachable faceplate under your seat or in the glovebox! That is where everyone and their mother puts it. Find a deck that comes with a hard plastic case, or find a case for it (maybe at a cell phone accessory store) and bring the faceplate inside with you when you leave the car. It may be bulky in your pocket when you're out somewhere, but at least you'll still have it when you leave. I myself am guilty of putting it under the seat, but I'm just a lazy bastard. As for kill switches, there are quite a few things you can do. One for the ECU power fuse, clutch switch, fuel pump; or for all of them. Get a manual that has wiring diagrams, and you should be able to figure it out fairly easy. Do a search over here and over at honda-tech for different security ideas. I know there's a good link available with a bunch of different ideas; some where floating around. And also think about getting a good alarm system. But if you're going to get it installed by a shop, tell them to leave all the wires the length they came. Then go back, figure out where they connected all the wires and relocate the main box thing (as well as reroute wires) somewhere that it's not easy to get to (since they usually just install it under the drivers side or passenger's side of the dash, where it's easy for a theif to just rip it out with no problem). I do feel your pain man (kind of) When I first bought my car it had a kenwood deck, but right before I got the car, some jackass ripped it out and cracked the trim. Theives suck, but if they want something bad enough, they'll find a way to get it. hondacivic99sivtec 10-06-2006, 04:53 AM i installed my alarm and kill swicth. i also did a push-button start. my entire ignition is electric. no key involved. i have the "brain box" for the alarm in my plastic panel behind my drivers seat. it has ignition cut off if not deactivated, and a backup battery if the main battery is disconnected. i also have a kill button under my dash. that isn't visible and would take like 30 min to find. it's a great setup. thefooshmeister 10-06-2006, 01:04 PM pretty much every cd player you buy comes with the plastic case..if it doesnt im sure the place you bought it from has a few lying around from their displays. im lazy and just lock mine in the lock box if im that paranoid but usually just stick it in the glove compartment under some papers hondacivic99sivtec 10-07-2006, 02:20 AM just buy a good alarm and remove the faceplate. you'll be fine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
