you need a tad bit more info than "its a 4 cylinder"

what are your realistic HP goals? What is the (theoretical or otherwise) NA HP of the engine? What IS the engine in question? What are the driving characteristics you are looking for? (what RPM do you want it to be fully spooled?)

Will it be an auto or a stick? Stall converter? redline?

You can build a 4 cylinder to make anywhere from 150HP to 1000+hp, and that requires very very drastically different turbos.

5 spd or more (so a stick)

red line i don't know

i like the 4g63 but i do not want to use a kit if that gives you some ideas there

i am looking for no more than 275hp weather it be stock or not.

why don't you look for a BMW-derived Brapbham race engine from a BT52?

4 cylinder, 1.5-litre makes ~1,500bhp (actual figure never known, BMW's dyno "only" went up tio 1,400bhp, BT52 made more)

what i'm trying to say is give us all the damn info you can. we can't help you unless you do that.

turbo/super/NA?
displacement?
torque needs?
space/size?
weight? (does it need to be light?)

just give us all the info you get and we can work from there.

turbo

2.0 dohc and up prefferably

i would like it to be a torqy motor. between 300-350

i have plenty of space it does not need to be al that small - i can put a v8 in teh space provided

i would prefer it to be light but i can make due if it is not.

RB25, RB26DETT, F20C from the S2000, 2300 from an SVO mustang....idk

SR20 would be the obvious choice....but i think the RB series would be a good option, but that's a 6

what about a chevy V6 or straight six? you could turbo a 3.8-litre V6 and make good power. you could even reach 320lb/ft ant 275bhp with N/A mods.

i have a thing about using engines from the car's manufacturer. i'd only put a chevy engine in a chevy, or a ford engine in a ford etc..

i actually m VERY interested in this 13b rotary motor.

can one take a 13B-DEI version and modify it to be a 13B-REW or better- for cheaper then just buying the later year 13b? and are these cheap motors to work on and repare? they are very ight and make alot of power fairly easily from my readings.

rotories are tricky engines. i'd say stick with a 4banger since it's more simple and more reliable. how much money are you looking to spend?

what 2.2 strait six ar eyou using ????????

my car has a 2.3-litre V5 (narrow angle)

i worked with a number of straight sixes, but they were all from changed-displacement engines. they were either stroked 2-litres or thickly-sleeved 2.5-litres.

my mate has one based on a BMW M50 if you want it. turbo'd and pushing 380bhp and 345lb/ft. it's ~$15,000 if you want to buy it :p

just wondering, if you were to turbocharge that v5 you'd have to use 2 different turbochargers right? you should try it sometime, it'd be an interesting project

nope, being a narrow-angle V5 it's a single-bank bank engine. but there's still a V to it. (much like the VR6 engines and VAG 3.2-litre V6)

also, don't forget that you can run a single turbo off an engine with two banks, like a subaru flat-4.

yeah i was thinking of that
but they are getting to be so hard to find the cars with them keep getting crushed. and i don't really like to spend alot on a used motor. my 327 from a vette with a 4 sped cost only 200 bucks from a guy who knew what he had.

if i can't fidn one i probably am going to use a 231 gnx motor with an appolo manual trans.

I hope you own another car. Guys starting projects like this usually have more that a chevette in the ol' public profile. Good luck.
