1993 Escort BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK!

Hi guys! I'm posting this for a friend of mine with a `93 Escort 4 door hatch.

His brake lights do not work whatsoever. All the other lights work fine. e.g. taillights, reverse lights, turn signals, emergency flashers, etc. But when he applies the brakes, no brake lights come on.

He just replaced the brake light switch tonight... did NOT make any difference. :banghead: He said that he used to hear a slight "click" in the audio of the radio when he'd apply the brakes, but never thought much of it since its done this for all the years he's owned the car. Now the "click" in the audio doesn't occur and the brake lights have stopped working.

Any suggestions? thanks in advance!

Let's start with the obvious... have the bulbs been checked?

Besides the bulbs, did he check to see if power was going to the brake light switch? Did he check the fuses?

Yep... as I stated in my orginal post, ALL the lights work fine EXCEPT for the brake lights. And coincidentally, the exact same bulb functionality (emergency flashers) is good to go.

Yes, the fuses were the first thing checked and all were fine, but replaced anyway "just in case". Didn't make a difference.

Although, I do NOT know if he checked to see if power is actually going to the brake light switch! I'll ask him that today! Thanks, Kim! :smokin:
