91 axles replacement/any special steps?
10-01-2006, 01:37 PM
Hey all Iam about to replace my front axles and was wondering if taking the caliper and disc back / off will release it from trans. How does it come out? Is there any tricks or is it basic ? Do I need to have the a-arm loaded or will it come out with suspension down and body on stands? Iam just asking before I hit any road blocks if any.:icon16:
I am doing this now sunday and need immmed. assistance please. Guess i beter go and find my manual huh!lol....

I think there is a roll pin that you need to knock out. It is on the transmission side. That's how it's set up on my 93.

Subies use the roll pin design. First, mark which way you knock out your roll pin, that way when you install it, you don't 180 the shaft and speed hours trying to put it back in. You don't need to take the rotor or caliper off. Just the lower ball joint through bolt and nut.. Also the axle nut.
