96 Neon Sport Diag Codesrazzyripple 09-30-2006, 04:15 AM I run the diagnostic codes and it came up as 12, 32, 42, 17, and 55. well I was told dont worry bout the 12 and the 55. says the 32 is EGR something, 42 I think is fuel too lean, and 17 is engine cold too long. Can someone please help me. It did have the code of O2 sensor I replaced the front one now this comes up. I was recommended to run a fuel additive to clean out the fuel system, and with my gas gauges not working I didnt know when it was becoming empty, as it ran out of gas from a full tank with this addidtive in it. Well the additive didnt work either. So can someone help me in determining what is wrong with it? Now bear in mind my gas gauge dont work on this same car either and already changed the instrument cluster and re-soldered the points as suggested in an earlier post on this forum. Please help. You can email me, post a reply, contact me by instant messenger etc. I was told my gas gauge prob could be the sending unit in the tank and could buy at parts store, well parts store says I have to buy the WHOLE fuel pump assembly to get that part. That's $210.... WOW.... out of my range at this time. It is a metal tank and ground already been checked as well. So please if anyone can help me with my codes problems, and/or the gas gauge problem, by all means please do and would be greatly appreciated. If not then your transducer needs to be replaced and it comes along with the new EGR valve. Code 42 - could be your ASD or fuel pump relay going bad on you. Try swapping it with your horn relay. Try to honk your horn...if it works then there is nothing wrong with the relay. If it doesn't honk, replace the relay. <--This could also solve your fuel gauge problem. Code 17 - thermostat may need to be replaced. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
