BMW E36 Digital Climate Control Repair

24 Hour Turn Around

Service Beyond Your Expectations...
DON'T BUY A NEW CLIMATE CONTROL!
Fix it the right way!
http://control.nexteppe.com/images/Riverhead%20Automall/climate1.jpg (remember@optonline.net?subject=Climate Control Repair)
Did your Digital Climate Control or HVAC just stop for no reason and has a mind of it's own?

Does it Flicker on and off by it self and work intermittently?
Does It sometimes manifest itself in other ways than your used to?
Does it appear to be off and the A/C somehow being on
Is your display very faint.
The buttons don't work at all and very often the "selected" light for a button is lit up but pressing it does nothing
Did you try to push every button and combinations of buttons a 1000 times and nothing works?
Well, Your not alone it's a common problem on the BMW E36...
Anyway I did some research and the cheapest new unit you will find is at "Bavarian Autosport" for $274.95, it doesn't include the LCD and to top that off it requires BMW Service to activate it...I Found a used one for about $350. Now as far as BMW, They quoted me $400+ for the part and god knows what to install it...They Really want to bend you over!!!

How does it work?

Just pop your HVAC Unit out.........It Super Easy!
You can slid your radio out (There is a small Allen key behind the doors on either end of the radio) Push your finger down behind your HVAC unit and push it forward with your finger.....It's So Easy, Go Try it now!!!
You can also pop your unit out by sliding your On Board Computer out from the bottom...Then the same thing, just push your finger up behind your unit and push it forward with your finger...
If your a little skiddish about pulling it out your self just go to your local Stereo Installation Center and pull around the back and just ask one of the guys to pull your radio for you, they can have it out in less then a minute....poke your finger behind the HVAC and Walla it's out....
Lastly and most important...Disable the HVAC Blower Motor buy pulling the fuse...By default the Heat is set on HIGH, this will elevate the heat blowing on your face in the dead of summer....
Send it to me

Dear justremember,

I just recommended you to someone from my forum. He has the same problem i and many other e36 owners have with the climate control. Here's what i told him: It's actually a known problem with the e36 climate control's. As a matter of fact i just got mine fixed this week. DO NOT GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS!!! They will sell you a new one for over $400 and then couple hundred more to "program it" to work in your car. I thought it was a crock, but this guy just saved me alot of money. I sent it to him he fixed it and sent it back practically the same day. I recommend him to any one on this forum. Trust me on this. He's awsome I think you should become part of my forum and sell your service to the members. Let me know and I'll give you a link to my forum.

Thanks!

Thank you Mike, I would have left even more glowing feedback if there had been room. Thanks to you I was able to sell my 318 ic without a hitch. I have passed on your contact info to my local BMW mechanic. He was very impressed with the quality repair and fast turn around. He said that they regularly see problems with the HVAC controls and that the repair costs to customers is far greater than what you charge. Usually involves buying a new unit. Thanks again, Henry Feel free to use this as a quote if you need it.

Great job, thank you for yours fast service and good
job.

I have to say I had this problem a few years back and it took me FOREVER to figure out the problem actually was! I was in a situation at the time where I couldn't afford the $400-$500 that I was getting quoted by the dealer and so consequently I went a LONG time w/o getting it fixed. I then found someone who was in the business of fixing them like the person who posted this and although I paid twice what he is charging--I couldn't be happier!!! I finally got my car back to working correctly, ya know with AIR CONDITIONING lol and DEFROST and HEAT! lol I couldn't believe what a common problem this turned out to be and I was so afraid the dealership was going to really bend me over to even tell me what was wrong. Then one day I was doing research on it on the net and found out I wasn't the only one who had this happen to them. For such a nice car, I couldn't believe BMW made that part so cheaply...but whatever lol.....the moral is, if this is happening to your car, don't buy the new part (which the dealer told me was only refurbished anyway) just get it fixed by someone like this person above, its WAY worth it!

and btw, I know I am a new member (I read all the time, just finally registered) but I am not affliated with him at all, just offering my own 2 cents LOL just didn't want anyone to think I was doing extra advertising or anything :)

Your so right though, I don't mean to plug my self either but, I can't tell you how many HVACs I have tried to save because of solder mistakes. Most of the time people burn the board or break a LCD...I'm not saying that it can't be done but it takes a steady hand and know-how to tackle it...

For a couple of bucks it’s out of your hands and backed by a guarantee...

I also have hundreds of HVAC parts so if you need anything let me know…

Thanks for the feedback,
///Michael
