99 Neon DOHC won't startgoldeelocks 09-29-2006, 08:11 AM Hi There ... I have a 99 Neon DOHC that won't start. Heres the story: My son was driving the car, he pulled out of a parking lot and the car just stalled ... and hasn't started since. I had it towed home, and checked the following things ... Checked all fuses and they are all good, checked for spark and its getting spark, checked for fuel pressure and the fuel pressure is good, replaced the battery and still nothing. There doesen't seem to be any power to the fuel injectors. Why would this be? When we checked the codes it had the following code: 27 Injector control circuit. What could this mean? I thank everyone in advance for any help or suggestions that can be given!! Have a great day .... ~Dee~ das2123 09-29-2006, 09:12 AM Check the connection to each injector on the wiring harness. One or more may be loose or broken off. goldeelocks 10-01-2006, 04:01 PM Hi das2123 .... I unplugged and checked each connector for the injectors, still nothing. Just a brief history for ya ... Several months ago my son was driving the car on a dirt road and it just quit, so I had the car towed to a garage. Before even looking at the car they told me it was a fuel pump, and it would be around $450.00 - $500.00 to fix!! Needing the car badly at the time, I had them fix it. A few months later my son's girlfriend had the car on a dirt road and it quit again. Someone happened to come along and look at the car and got it running again ... told her it was a fuse?! Of course she has no idea what fuse ... so thats of no help. The point of me telling you all this is because its doing the very same thing that it did both times before. For all I know the first time it happened it could have just been a fuse also and the garage just ripped me off ... I honestly don't know. Right now I just don't have another $500.00 to give away, and despretely need the car. Anything else you can think of would greatly be appreciated!! Thanks so much ... ~Dee~ das2123 10-01-2006, 05:42 PM Are you getting any other codes? Just out of curiosity, check the connections to the crank and camshaft position sensor. goldeelocks 10-01-2006, 08:48 PM Hi Again ... That was the only code. Its funny that you mention the cam and crank sensor cause someone else had mentioned to check those connections. We checked them tonight, connections were good. Could one of those sensors have gone bad just like that? Thanks Again .... ~Dee~ das2123 10-01-2006, 08:50 PM They can and will go bad just like that...without any warning! goldeelocks 10-01-2006, 09:08 PM Ok .... So if you were me (which you should be thanking god that your not, cause if you were you'd be the one with the broken Neon), which one would you replace first? Do you by any chance have any idea how much these sensors cost? I really do appreciate all the help you have offered me!! ~Dee~ das2123 10-01-2006, 10:34 PM Camshaft position sensor and it should run about $30. goldeelocks 10-05-2006, 03:52 PM Ok ..... So we replaced both sensors, and it still won't start!! I am at a complete loss here and just don't get it .... Is there a fuse somewhere that I am missing for the fuel injection? What else could this be? Tomorrow I am having the car towed to the garage ... hopefully they can figure it out .... and hopefully it won't cost a fortune!! Thanks so much for all your help .... I'll let you know what I find out!! ~Dee~ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
