I own a 1996 grand cherokee laredo. it started stalling for no reason while driving down the road. after reading the forum and deciding that it was prob. the cps i took it to a mechanic who couldn't find anything wrong. he told me to change the fuel pump relay fuse. did that it ran ok for about a week then started the same thing. my husband put a new cps on the the thing and tried to started it up. wouldn't turn over jumped it and it would start until you take the cables off. then it would die. when it does start with the cables you have to keep your foot on the gas or it will die. without the cables attached to another vehicle it will not turn over. does anyone have any suggestions?:crying:

Sounds like the alternator went bad during the repalcement of the CPS maybe somehow shorted it. Once the jeep starts the electrical supply comes from the alternator. Dead battery also.

Did you disconnect the Battery before replacing the CPS?
